I didn't think this at all. There were definitely some bad calls but that's not what lost lsu the game. Smart is the only one that had a great second half.. If one more guy stepped up in the second half it probably would've been different.

It was a fun season though, at least we made it through the first night.

Every year in every sports there's always several conspiracy theorists who seriously believe that the refs give a shite who wins the game.

Eventually those conspiracy theorists grow up and see how stupid they were, but a new crop always takes their place.

The posters who think that game was ref'd fairly, what game were you watching?

1. Javonte gets a clean block, LSU foul.
2. Michigan steps out of bounds and LSU strips the ball clean, LSU foul.
3. Cam Thomas gets fouled and scores, LSU foul.
4. Eric Gaines gets laid out from behind with his hand on the ball, no foul on anyone.
5. Michigan player flops (Leblanc did not push him even a little), would have been an easy LSU 2 points, instead LSU foul.
6., 7., 8, .9. Cam Thomas obviously fouled, but apparently no foul.

If that game is ref'd fairly, LSU wins the game. The sheer number of obviously terrible calls makes it obvious to me the refs were extremely biased, if not corrupt.

Cam lived at the foul line except tonight. If the game was called right Dick fouls out with 10 minutes left. Cam at the line 5 more times. The and one Cam was called for a foul was 3 points the bullshite on Leblanc was 2 points. The out of bounds was -2.
Just that little bit is LSU plus 17. Sorry what others thing we got hosed and it wasn’t very hard to see. And all this in the last 20.

Michigan had 5 offensive rebounds total. Tough to have 11 more given that.

LSU with 3 turnovers and only gave up 5 offensive rebounds. Weird boxscore all around. Comes down to MICH shooting 53% from the field.

ETA: Would love to see win % on a team having 3 turnovers or less and only giving up 5 offensive rebounds. Bet it's 95% or higher

I wanted LSU to win but this is hilarious.
It was called fair good and bad. Embarrassing to say it was fixed.

So the refs got together in a huddle before the game, did a collective evil laugh and decided to fix the game in Michigan's favor? Is this what you honestly believe?

I don’t. Do you honestly believe the committee genuinely felt LSU deserved a number 8 instead of a number 7 when they had a higher NET rating than every number 7 seed?

As usual, it's not the amount of fouls called. It's when they're called. The back breaker was the so called charge AND the mystery out of bounds turned into a foul called almost back to back. Compounding that was driving to the basket and getting hacked to death with zero call against them on defense. Seemed like 5x in a row we kept trying to go low and draw a foul with points to no avail.

Maybe it's not 'fixed' but I had a feeling LSU would get no calls their way because Michigan was all that was left in Big 10 land. If you don't think refs see that and have preferences they do. They're just people who know that if they screw 1 Michigan out of the game with a call then they would have to answer to higher powers. So their calls against Michigan were at times that didn't hurt them.

Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get us.

We shot 39%, 29% from 3.

Michigan shot 54%, and 40% from 3.

Maybe that had something to do with it.

By the way, total fouls were LSU 20, Michigan 17. Pretty much even there.

No. Getting mugged all game long with almost no calls, had everything to do with it. Guess what happens to your shooting percentage when you get hit, miss the shot, and no foul is called?

And how about that "charge" on Thomas? That defender was moving all over the place, but instead of having a three point play, we get nothing.

Now there were plenty of things that LSU could have done better, no doubt. But the refs made themselves a huge factor.

Bingo,

That dude clearly stepped out then a foul is called just after.

Also, Thomas was mugged late but when he went for the rebound they were all over his back, then the ball went to the other guy and Watford stuck his knee on him and fouled out. BTW, what kind of sissy shots Watford was trying near the goal, like he was not shooting it but barely pushing it... terrible.

Also, there were many more fouls not called when they were over our back, especially the only guy under the basket who always tried to rebound (Gaines)

We were disorganized late and making poor shot choices due to their defense inside. At the same critical time Michigan hit a couple threes. That’s how it ended. The refs didn’t do that.

Come on. Not a bigger Tiger fan, but the refs were not the difference. Mich had the bench and we got two pints from ours.

Fouls seemed a little inconsistent both ways. In the first half it seemed we were drawing most of the fouls and their were some bad calls. But in the second half I thought they called Michigan on some bad calls. The bottom line is we ran out of gas. We had no points or few points from our bench. Our talent showed up first as we went out front in the first half. Michigan’s depth showed up in the middle of the second half.

You just never know how things would work out.
The "charge" on Thomas was killer. Down 6 with 3 and change to play. If called properly we are down 3.
I believe Mich came down and hit a 3 to push it to 9, game over.
Now maybe he still hits that 3 to put it back to 6, but make no mistake that was a HUGE call.

Wasn't much before that when the guy goes OB and we get called for a BS foul. They hit a 3 there as well.

Overall, I thought the refs sucked both ways. Early in the 2nd half they called it tight against Mich. Then all the sudden they didn't call anything. Just way too inconsistent.

But, in the end we needed Watford or Days to step up in the 2nd half and neither did. That is what lost this game.
