When your QB plays very well, and you score 20...
Posted by oak on 9/3/24 at 8:13 am
...you definitely have terrible offensive coaching.
Simulated conversation between "reason" and BK/LSU's OCs at halftime:
Reason: "Run didn't work, pass worked very well in the first half. What will you do more after halftime?"
BK/LSU's OCs: "Double down on the run."
Reason: "Why!?!"
BK/LSU's OCs: "Well, we were always bad at math...and science...so we try not to use numbers or anything anyone could see with their eyes".

Agree. JD has to improve throwing the ball 10+ yards downfield. Looked like he had after Florida and Ole Miss, but it’s gone away again. If not, we need Nuss or someone.
It’s mind-boggling. BK has no ability to evaluate QB talent.
That says a lot bad about the coach then.
JD’s not the guy, may as well give Howard and Nuss opportunities.
I’ll take Brennan over either. BK can’t evaluate QB talent plainly and that’s a problem.
I hope not, he’s terrible.
re: Knowing what we know about the offense now. Would you hate a 2 QB System?

JD can run but can’t throw. He can only be the QB out of desperation. We need to see if Nuss or Howard are ready.
Wish we had Brennan.

re: Sources: a separation agreement has been reached between LSU and Coach O

Gotta nail the hire. We could do way worse than O, and Woodward better not.

This seems kind of dumb, O’s overall record warrants more time
The posters who think that game was ref'd fairly, what game were you watching?
1. Javonte gets a clean block, LSU foul.
2. Michigan steps out of bounds and LSU strips the ball clean, LSU foul.
3. Cam Thomas gets fouled and scores, LSU foul.
4. Eric Gaines gets laid out from behind with his hand on the ball, no foul on anyone.
5. Michigan player flops (Leblanc did not push him even a little), would have been an easy LSU 2 points, instead LSU foul.
6., 7., 8, .9. Cam Thomas obviously fouled, but apparently no foul.
If that game is ref'd fairly, LSU wins the game. The sheer number of obviously terrible calls makes it obvious to me the refs were extremely biased, if not corrupt.

That security guard desperately needs a sense of humor and some perspective.
No one should have an arrest warrant issued for a non-sexual-harassment pat on the bottom. If anything, the security guard should be arrested for wasting the police's time.
I hope the security guard is fired and ends up somewhere he can't go on a power trip. He's an embarrassment to the entire state of Louisiana.

Is Hiring Ensminger a Fireable Offense?
Posted by oak on 1/11/18 at 11:30 am
I'd say yes. Miles was fired (and Orgeron hired) specifically for perpetually poor offense.
Orgeron's solution to the offense is to chase away someone who potentially could fix the problem (Canada) in favor of someone whose track record indicates almost no hope of fixing the problem (Ensminger).
That outlandish (and damaging) a decision should be a fireable offense.

0 points at home against Bama with Ensminger
10 points at home against Florida with Ensminger
Is there anyone that believes Ensminger is the answer to take the Tigers to the next level?
If Orgeron hires Ensminger, he should immediately be on the hot (and a very hot) seat. If he'd only ignored Canada and the offense, we'd be 11-2 last season; Orgeron is solely accountable for the losses to Troy and Notre Dame via his meddling in the offense. Sounds a lot like Miles.

I think he's not proven, a ton of coaches have done well for a short time at places like Houston and not done well when facing tougher competition literally all of the time.
re: Stop saying Petrino

Purely from the football standpoint:
#1 = Briles: what he did at Baylor is insane
#2 = Petrino: he's produced a powerhouse anywhere he's been, Lousiville (twice now) and Arkansas
This Herman guy is not at all proven

It would be amazing if LSU got Briles, he and Petrino are some of the few Saban-esque coaches potentially available (in that if you hire them, you've essentially got a 100% shot at being a powerhouse as long as they stay).
Briles took Baylor (Baylor!) from nothing to persistent national powerhouse, I can't even speculate what he could do with the LSU Tigers (but I know it would be amazing and incredible).
If we want a priest, then we should hire one (I think I know some that are available)

Our standards on 'pathetic' may not be the same, but I'd argue Year 1 should be a lot better with Beckham, Landry, Mett, and Jeremy Hill (all in the NFL and the first two superstars). We were outside the top 30 in total offense, with that talent that's insane.
re: LSU looking at Pendergast,Aranda,Pelini,Venables. Per Nola.com

I'd be happy to obtain Aranda, Venables, Chavis, Bob Shoop, and whoever Iowa's DC is now
If Cameron is kept, he should be < 50th highest paid OC in nation
Posted by oak on 1/1/16 at 12:42 pm
I don't think Cameron should be allowed to stay, his three years as OC have been pathetic.
Nonetheless, if he is kept, he should be offered a one-year deal for less than the 50th highest paid OC in the nation. His performance has been less than that, so that's being overly generous in my opinion.

It's not about winning this one, it's about winning almost all the next ones

How does this offensive scheme (only run and try to be as obvious as possible about it) project against 'Bama, Ole Miss, A&M (especially since they have Chavis, thanks Alleva ), not so good...it's enough to beat Miss. State, who's not supposed to be good this season...but others...I don't know, but I don't like the odds
