This is my second 22 cal Benjamin pump. I killed a yearling buck trying to scare it out of the garden. Caught a lung. I’ve killed many varmints with it. My first one lasted 40 years or so.

You can shop around for some serious air rifles these days. They come in .357, .308, .53 and 50 cal with enough power to put down a wild hog or deer. But those cost some real money, I picked up a Beeman crack barrel .17/22 combo from walmart for $40. The 22 set up is pushing 950fps, the .17 is over 1500 fps.

You can spend $100 or $1,000. Depends on your wants and needs. Pneumatic rams cost more but you can leave it cocked for long periods.

Obviously not the best, but I bought a Remington Summit a while back to try and do some squirrel control in my yard...
.177, 1200 fps...break barrel, big scope, looks like a .270
that thing is scary.
I took it out to a lake one day to get an actual idea of how fast/far it would shoot. Pretty amazing, and long way from the crossman/Benjamin pumps I grew up with.

Such a huge topic. I really should just find my earlier post, but I'll just skip to the end. Watch videos on the Sign ASP20. I doubt there's a better bang for buck out there. It's my favorite gun I ever bought.

I love air guns also. Cheap, fun, and more places to shoot them.

Op, as said are you talking a $50 basic pump or a $1500 pneumatic? I’m stating to think about some of the better guns out there just because they are so affordable to shoot and quiet.

I'm looking for varmint control. Something decently priced and quiet.

There are 30 caliber automatic air rifles that can fire a 45 grain projectile over 700 fps if you just want something incredible cool and stupid

Have the older Benjamin.22 pump that will sling it at 680 ft/s have killed plenty small birds and squirrels with it. If I needed a new one I would probably try the Ruger Impact Max .22 caliber Air Rifle will sling it at 1,050 ft/s. Have read some good reviews for $150

I have a Hatsan 125 Sniper Vortex. Sucker packs a punch for a break barrel. Biggest downside is that it’s pretty heavy. Not as hard hitting but much lighter is the Hatsan MOD 87. I don’t have one like that, but I’m confident the quality is there with that brand.

Airforce airguns

Airgun Depot

Check out Airforce Airguns and Airgun Depot. As some have noted, you can spend a little or spend a lot. YouTube will have reviews on most anything you are looking for.

Good luck!

I just stepped my toe into the air gun market as I wanted one to shoot small game with. I bought the .22cal Gamo Swarm Magnum 10x Gen2. Only had it for a couple days but it’a a tack driver. Kids can’t cock it by themselves , which is a nice safety feature, but they love shooting it also. Good deal and not breaking the bank. Here is a good review of it I found helpful.

Well, this HW90 doesn't fit the price well. It is a hell of a hunting pellet rifle as I have one. Extremely well built and groups tacks. Who wants to spend $650 on a pellet rifle though when there are .22's out there that are better....

Completely different tools. Besides, a quality air rifle should cost a lot more than a fire arm.

The air rifle can be shot in more places though since it’s quiet, so I can understand why people might pony up for a good one.

Friend of mine brought a high powered pellet gun to our place. He used it to shoot crows around his house and said he killed them at up to 80 yards. I think his was made by a german company... Meisterschutze or something like that. I think it shot .22 pellets at around 1200 to 1400 fps.

I killed a bunch of quail and doves with it riding around the lease. Figured 80 yards was quite an exaggeration until I killed 2 Javelina with it from a 15 ft Tripod stand. Shot them in the top of the shoulder and broke their backs. Not huge Javelina but not babies either.

Rifle could drive nails at 20 yards. He said he paid around $500 for it in 2012.

I got a Gamo .177 earlier this year and that bastard is LOUD. I shot it once to test the scope and waited for the police to arrive it was so loud. They never did, but I won’t shoot in the neighborhood because it’s crazy loud.
