Keke Mingo comes to mind. He was a freak athlete and main reason he went top 10 in the NFL was because of his potential.

Honey Badger was a phenomenal player and a tough SOB but not necessarily what I think of in terms of a freak athlete. His combine numbers didn't pop off the page. He was never known as a burner or a huge leaper.

You said “ever” but did you mean the last decade?
There were dozens before 2010 that should be considered. Billy cannon, Todd Kinchen, and Tom Hodson should be in the conversation. Hodson could have started for the basketball team 4/5 years he was at LSU. Todd lettered in like 10 sports in hs school and dunked like Ronald Dupree but Todd was only 6 feet tall.

Patrick Peterson
My father in law works on the players(he’s a PT), has for 30 years. I remember when PP was getting cramps his junior year he said it was bc his muscles were solid that they had to put him on muscle relaxers to get him from cramping. They did (which I questioned momentarily) then the rest of the season he got even better and was more fluid!

For those that think Billy Cannon is just some old guy who other old guys like to bring up when one of these conversations takes place, I would encourage you to learn about William Abb Cannon. Learn about his size, and his speed, and his accomplishments. The guys scored points in every possible way somebody could score points. Billy Cannon could play football on today's LSU team.

The guys who immediately came to mind for me have already been mentioned, with one exception. Trindon Holliday.

It wasn't just Cannon's size and speed but his awesome strength which helped him with shot put in track.

in before someone claims Cannon ran a 9.5 100m
