in before someone claims Cannon ran a 9.5 100m

I've seriously asked this question before:
9.5 100yard dash ~ 10.3 100m
So, Who else in any era could throw a college shot(16lbs) 54 feet and run a 10.3 100m?
There's a reason Cannon's statue has a shot next to his feet.

I think some of the stud LBs or RBs since Cannon could have done this if they worked at it. I just don't know of any other players who ran the 100yd(m) AND threw shot. One of you may be able to find this out if it exists.

But make no mistake, Cannon was a big strong fast MFer even by today's standards.

Harvey Williams was awfully big and fast. I don’t know how he tested, but he was a dude

Rb. Fournette
De. Hunter
Te. Gilbert
Fs/ss. Laron landry

These have to be the top athletes iv seen in my life time in the purple gold... Just freaks for speed, weight, strength ratio.

If only fournette has some jukes, and hunter was more than a practice/weight room warrior.

Vernel Singleton was fun to watch. Lightly recruited, incoming freshman with Chris Jackson. Started as a freshman and had a solid career at LSU. A trademark of his was wearing a bandaid on his shoulder. But he was a bouncy, strong player.

He’s apparently gone on to bigger and better things beyond his basketball career.

Brandon Bass was also a very athletic player.

TM7 took over games (like at WVU in ‘11)

Maybe he wasn’t the freakishly in measurables, but he has the “it” thing in football.

And attitude:

Peterson and Stingley are both “built differently”.

Made out of steel and fire. Aren’t human, more super human.

as they are trying to convey that he 'supposedly' ran a 9.5 100 yards (which may be true).

I don't know why you clarify with "supposedly" and "which may be true." By all accounts he ran a hand timed 9.6 100yd.

This discussion has been had ad nauseam. Prime Billy Cannon was big enough, strong enough, and fast enough to play modern football at a high level.

If it's athletic freaks, then from the 2003 team, Skyler Green and Devery Henderson

A lesser known with how athletic he was, Jalen Collins. It never truly materialized in the field but leading up to 1/9/12 the players were asked in New Orleans who the best athlete on the team was, the answer, Jalen Collins.
Another on the current team that won't get consideration because he's an OL is Dare Rosenthal. If he trains well for the combine in a couple of years(hopefully) he could possibly break 5 seconds in the 40. He's been clocked at 5.15 at LSU. For a 6'7 330 kid that's moving.
PP7 is the biggest freak I've personally seen at LSU. LB sized guys shouldn't move like he did/does

Honey Badger was a phenomenal player and a tough SOB but not necessarily what I think of in terms of a freak athlete. His combine numbers didn't pop off the page. He was never known as a burner or a huge leaper.

Not sure I agree. The way he always seemed to strip the ball or make the play still blows my mind. Freak athlete to me.

One of the more bizarre situations was Kenny Davidson who played at LSU from 1986 - 1990. He was recruited as a tight end. Caught 1 pass in 1986 and 1 in 1988 for a total of 19 yards in his career. At some point he switched to DE. I don't know if he recorded any stats as a DE. LSUsports.net has no stats available for him.

In the 1990 draft, the Steelers took him 43rd overall. As a student at the time, and a big fan, I said "Who? What?" when he was drafted. My friends on the team (back when players actually went to class with and occasionally hung out with regular students) said he was an athletic freak.

He played 7 years in the NFL. But, Curley couldn't get him on the field.

Its funny seeing the young guys on here who don't have a clue about Billy Cannon. Cannon played Half back, return specialist , and defensive back for LSU . Also ran Track. I think only Holiday would have been faster then Cannon by Track time. Holiday ran a 10.0 flat 100 meters. If Cannon's 9.55 100 yards equals a 10.3 100 meters, that hauling at 218LBs Also Cannon first year in the NFL he led the league in ALL purpose yardage. Let me say that LOUDER " Lead the NFL in his 1st year in All purpose yardage.
