State data hovers around 10-15% for that age group, yet they test 30,000 students and get a 0.83% return?

Maybe, but it could also be one of those things that the people getting tested are sick or have been around someone who tested positive.

UA is just testing everyone, if they forced every resident to get tested I'm guessing it would be similar.

Fat finger downvote ... sorry.

Wish they would put another millimeter between up and down arrows.

Kind of exposes this whole thing for what it is, doesn't it?

What concerns me is that just a week ago, we were being told by the AL Dept of Health via the media that the state had a major backlog of tests with result wait times being up to two weeks.

I don't think you are thinking this through.

Getting Univ of Alabama and Alabama Football started, maybe the states #1 goal every summer. So with all due respect to the 85 year old in the ICU, they just gotta take a back seat to priorities sometimes ya know.

Are we going to close every school and institution every time we have a positive test?

Yep. My cohort and I just adapted the entire first nine weeks of plans to be implemented virtually. It’s guaranteed we will be sent home at least in short term chunks as kids inevitably test positive.

State data meaning what? The 15% are people that went in for a test and returned positive or they were selected randomly?

The MLS just went through a tournament without a single positive from 7/8 - 8/11. yeah they played all the games in Orlando, but still.

People pushing the narrative will desperately hope that the tests were flawed. Just like they desperately hope an incident was racially motivated. It’s weird how they are almost upset when the things they supposedly fear end up not being present

It's Bama. They haven't been out mingling with other people. They just stay home and screw their sisters who they're quarantined with. No spreading the virus.

Because kids in that age group aren't going to get tested unless they are exhibiting significant symptoms. 18 year olds aren't running to get tested every time they sneeze

Which is the point of the post. The government is making decisions based off skewed data.

How so?

Where is that data? It isn't surprising that testing a population of 30000 mostly asymptomatic people would produce much lower positive results than those seeking out a test likely due to exposure or showing symptoms. That's pretty obvious.

So, yall are saying the true infection rate in the state is closer to 0.83%

So why the hell are we not wide arse open?

It's more interesting that the percentage is that low. Seems to show a lack of anticipated spread.

Currently infected estimate is anywhere from 1.4% to 4.33%.

That college agree is substantially lower isn't surprising.

well, hospitals are still taxed. Though that number is staring to come down. Hopefully Alabama will be in a really good place here in a few weeks.

A bunch of them probably already caught it early in the summer while they were all out living life instead of living in fear. They are over it now.

Yet, I see alabama as a state goes off the 10% number when reporting, and that is the number they use for phasing....
