The way we are testing and making decisions is like taking BMI’s of everyone eating at buffet and fast food restaurants and then extrapolating that over the entire population. Yes there is obesity but that subset of the population is not an accurate representative sample

That almost mirrors the false positive rate you would expect due to the low specificity of these tests. Some are much less specific than others.
