Munoz or Lombardi fits perfectly with what we started to build and both were options for us to hire.

Good thing Coach O didn't consult with you/us, huh?

They were the most talked about and hinted at candidates per all LSU media not me. But again another ad hominem attack, typical ignorant Rantard. It’s pretty sad when your bubble consists of this place and you’re so locked in you don’t even get local LSU news.

As much as O has earned the right to be trusted, this hire is a huge stretch IMO.

Your opinion doesn’t count.
The only opinion that counts is the man who put together the right pieces of the puzzle.

That puzzle included the hiring of coaches and player acquisitions.
“O”didn’t need anyone’s opinion then and he doesn’t need it now.
As far as I’m concerned everyone else can shut the F up about any hires that Coach O decides.

I wonder if by chance the coaching staff had anything to do with lighting the fire.

Linehan worked for an offensive-minded head coach in Jason Garrett who is now the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants and the reason Linehan lasted so long in Dallas is that he did what Jason Garrett wanted him to do and not what Scott Linehan wanted to do.

Meanwhile, when he worked for a defensive-minded head coach previously at Detroit who didn't know anything about offense, Scott Linehan was able to do what he wanted to do and in his first season in Detroit, Detroit threw 663 passes and in his second season, Detroit threw 723 passes. No other teams in the NFL were throwing that many passes.

So your analysis is obviously way off.

Meanwhile, Ed O hired Linehan because first of all, he is a great teacher and also, because he is really good at third-down offense and at red-zone offense.

As Ed O wants to make sure the offense continues to score 7s as opposed to 3s.

Ensminger....I thought he did very well in our old offense....think about what he did in Joe Burrows first year.

Scored zero vs Alabama.
Had no concept of the spread.
Ran little to no rpo’s.
Didn’t utilize the middle of the field.
Had Burrow under center running an offense he was uncomfortable with.
That about covers it.

Super Joe-B would have dramatically increased LSU's offensive numbers during that time. The great players were actually holding Joe Brady back.

maybe im misunderstanding, but are you denigrating Brady now?

Same thing I said as a Cowboys fan. Also I never thought about the aspect of Jason Garrett. He had a hand in the Cowboys offense this year and probably was the #1 reason they didn’t make the playoffs. Saying this to say might not have all been him. The last season was very predictable though. DB running WRs routes like they knew the play. See Dez Bryant rant about Scott Linehan. Also Brice Butler.

I don’t like the hire, but I’m ok with the wait and see approach. However, if it turns out that O’s plan is for Linehan to be the OC in waiting, then I think there is legitimate reason for concern.

16 nfl years for this guy.

Good years:

10 offenses in top 15.
8 of those in the top 6.
6 of those in the top five, with the other two ranking 6th.

Bad years:

4 offenses in the bottom ten.

2 ranked 17th.

Lets not cite made up stats on here anymore dude. Its called google.

Hes not calling plays, but im not that worried. E would have to be actually terrible at his job to not make this work.

And i still find it funny i stuck up for him since 2010 when everyone called him Les' bbq buddy.

That article was written in January of 2019. The Cowboys 2019 season was much worse without Linehan. It makes you wonder if the Cowboys didn’t have a problem similar to The LSU problem when Les Miles was coach. Maybe the offensive philosophy was dictated from on high.

so what does his playcalling have to do with being a PGC? Seems like you know the answer, nothing

What did Brady do this past season?

It seems like PGC used to mean nothing with calls and design of offense and usually still does for most, but it certainly seemed to be a big part of a change in LSU's offensive style and play calling in 2019 from offenses in 2016 & 2018. Brady seemed more like a co-offensive coordinator than what a PGC usually is.

These things made the offense a machine that most teams had trouble with
Great offensive play calling and QB coaching and development
A very intelligent qb who was on top of his game
Great running back who could catch the ball and great receivers who could catch and run routes...and could adjust when needed
LES always had the offensive talent he just didn't know what to do with it...also was just way too hard headed and would not accept change...it cost him his job
THANK YOU COACH O YOUR STATMENT AFTER BAMA BEAT YOU 29-0 IN 2018 WAS A GAME CHANGER FOR THE 2019 SEASON AMD HOPEFULLY MANY MORE TOO COME...GEAUX TIGERS
