yeah, rapers ususally want pretty side in so victims can't escape as easily.

I’ve always heard that the pretty side faces your neighbors but I don’t like that one bit. I’m not paying that much money just to sit in my back yard and stare at the ugly side. Am I a dick for putting the ugly side facing my neighbors on two sides?

FYI - I have a good relationship with the neighbors.

Why isn't your neighbor splitting the cost with you?

Not any more.

You do know you are in violation of the Geneva Fence accord of 1873. The penalties are severe.

Most of all, you lose the ability to stand on the cross beams and look over at your neighbor's yard.

So, you just put a driveway through your neighbors yard?

I paid for my fencing material, removed the old chain link and smaller posts, put in larger new posts, cemented them in., ran the stringers and screwed in the fencing material.

Guess who got the "pretty side".

We gave up on building on referenced lot 2 years ago because of the access issue that I came here asking about. Good to know you all have a fanfrickingtastic memory, though.

Its not about putting the "pretty" side towards your neighbors. A fence is about safety. Putting the pretty side towards you affords criminals the ability to climb easily over your fence (because of cross member supports facing out). If you building a fence for safety put the "pretty" side out...if safety isn't an issue do what you want.

Mine looks just like that!! From my neighbors side, of course.

And remember that you can increase your home's property value by adding vinyl slats to that chain link.

"One lesson from Paul Jobs (Steve Jobs father) was particularly influential, Isaacson explains.

Growing up, Jobs once helped his father build a fence around their family home in Mountain View. While working, Paul shared a piece of advice with Jobs: “You’ve got to make the back of the fence, that nobody will see, just as good looking as the front of the fence,” Isaacson told “60 Minutes.” “Even though nobody will see it, you will know, and that will show that you’re dedicated to making something perfect.”

The idea stuck with Jobs."

From Walter Isaacson who wrote the biography Steve Jobs

Go Shadowbox. It will improve your neighbors home value which will improve yours. You will know the other side is shite even if you don't have to look at it.

I mean, its usually a 6ft fence. The pretty side isn't going to do shite to stop the teenage hooligans from pulling themselves over knowing that weed money in the form of a cordless drill is sitting in a garage on the other side.
