I built a fence with the pretty side facing me - am I a prick?

I’ve always heard that the pretty side faces your neighbors but I don’t like that one bit. I’m not paying that much money just to sit in my back yard and stare at the ugly side. Am I a dick for putting the ugly side facing my neighbors on two sides?

You face the pretty part towards the road and anything else towards your yard. You don’t want the ugly side facing the front of your property like an idiot. I think it’s fair to put the main part of your backyard towards yourself in most layouts.

I did the same 20 years ago at my first home. My neighbor got one 80 ft side of fence that he didn’t have to pay for. The back of his property already had a fence that was built by another neighbor. He was elated that all he had to do was tie in one 80 ft side and about 30 ft back across his front. As soon as I finished mine, he had his put up in 2 days and bought a dog. He didn’t care about having the ugly side.

They already have a dickhead for a neighbor. I don't guess the ugly side of the fence will male things that much worse.

Glad you have good neighbors, because you gave them a ladder to climb into your back yard by giving them the exposed stringers.
