Stop speeding in a school zone
Posted on 4/26/19 at 8:14 am to Y.A. Tittle
Was it in a school zone?
Story has been well publicized in the local news for the past few weeks that the mayor tried to pull a fast one on everybody and had the speed camera trigger in school zones lowered from 5 or 6 MPH over the limit down to 2 MPH over in February without telling anyone. Nobody knew she had done that until people started getting 3-4 MPH over tickets in the mail in March and April.

Move out of the shithole known as New Orleans, LA.

I got one for 24 in a 20 Mardi Gras week when schools were closed. But... NOLA will never see a penny of that fine.

But its all about public safety, as they lower the threshold for speed cameras without informing the public.
Here's what I do in this situation. Ignore the ticket. When you get the third notice, go to an auto notary and get a new license plate. They only boot you based off your license plate. New plate = no boot.
frick New Orleans.

Speedometer is one thing and the margin for error on the radar is another.
My understanding is that speedometers err on the side of faster speed (i.e you're seeing numbers on your speedometer lower than actual speed) and that the margin for error on radar detection of speed can be as high as 2 mph over your actual speed. I believe the margin for error with radar is the reason for the 4 mph threshold that was established by the city upon the recommendation of the camera company. There have been plenty of local attorneys trying to get a class certified and the recent change could really help that effort.
In its efforts for a short term cash grab, the city is going to be is a bad spot when they are ordered to refund those payments.

24! You're lucky you didn't kill someone! (sarcasm font). It's all about the kids, right? frick the city and their stupid road tax cameras. Since they changed the cushion, I go 19 in a school zone because i don't trust the calibration of their stupid cameras.
