Main issue with oline recruiting in this class is it lacks depth. At the top it looks great on paper but we should be taking 5 olineman in this class and on the defensive side definitely at least 3-5.

Kardell Thomas - OG
Anthony Bradford - OT
Ray Parker - OT
Thomas Perry - OT
Charles Turner - OC

That's 5 OL. I agree we are very lacking with DL prospects. We have 5 spots left and a possible shuffle with some current commits. I hope the full court press is on DT, DE and rush OLB/DE.

A sink hole needs to swallow that Trailer Park of a village called Amite.

Coach O's supposed recruiting prowess was the one thing that finally brought me on board with giving the man a chance as HC of LSU. And so far, I'm underwhelmed

You're underwhelmed with the number 5 class that will move up a few more notches?

Yeah, let's wait and see how it finishes before counting our chickens. Yes, I'm underwhelmed with his previous class, what was it, 15th? And Les had top five recruiting classes just about every year he was here. So yes, so far, I'm underwhelmed because the O boosters were all telling me how much better he was at recruiting than Les. O hasn't shown it so far. He couldn't land Marvin Wilson and he couldn't land Patrick Surtain, Jr. And he won't land Sopsher. But O is supposed to be this world class recruiter.

Just asking but if you know how much the Bama players get paid, other things they also receive, their parents getting taken care of in some instances, why don't other universities and the shitty NCAA know?

I think he was underwhelmed by last years 3 star laden class. This recruiting class isn't over. I bet this time last year you were counting Surtain. Not saying the class moves, just saying you can't really "know" until NSD.

Meanwhile, LSU continues to struggle in both oline/dline recruiting something that was suppose to be fixed from the Miles era. O has not exactly done a good job in recruiting here on either side. Both sides have lots of disappointments in his short tenure here. The dline-U moniker at LSU long since passed. Everyone knows Bama cheats but I guess LSU can't pass big enough checks to compete with them anymore.

So keep spinning this. Be happy with what you have. A loaded roster at skill positions and weak in the trenches/QB. This is LSU life. Just don't expect to ever seriously compete for championships. As long as you understand that you're good.

No spin in my post, just facts and reality. I'm not the biggest O apologist because I think giving him the job was the wrong decision, but I am going to fully support the Tigers and not trash the coaches with BS opinions. Its the O haters like you who spin every negative thing that happens so you can trash the coach which hurts the team and program. You show your bias with the post regarding the lack of recruiting on the O-line, when this is one of the best O-line classes LSU has had in a while IMHO.

In fairness to you, Defensive line recruiting does need to pick up, and the loss of Sopsher will hurt if he does go to Bama. These are facts, but it in no way should it be used to trash Orgeron because Sopsher was going to Bama unless Petito switched to LSU and on his way through Amite dropped a bag of cash with a note saying Love LSU on his door.

I ask again, what did O do wrong in the Sophser recruitment and what could he have done to land him?

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that O and this staff have been recruiting the hell out of this kid and his teammate, but yet here we are.....so what would have made this kid change his mind?

All you stupid mother frickers may as well face the facts. It wouldn't matter if we had Knute Rockne as a coach , Saban would out recruit him . Teenagers want to be a champion , or at least to be seen to be attached to a winner ,even if they had nothing to do with the winning. I know, having 2 kids & 2 step kids. My stepson wanted a North Carolina looking jacket just because they had won in hoops the year before. He couldn't have named one NC player, HADN'T WATCHED ONE march Madness game , but he knew who the winner was . He just wanted to be part of a championship by wearing that damned jacket . Until Saban quits , all the O-haters will have plenty of fodder . It's not O , but the aura of Saban. WE WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE INSTATE #1 RECRUITS REGARDLESS OF THE HC AT LSU. AND THEY WILL BE GOING TO sABANVILLE . PS, THE CHARGERS DON'T HURT.

These same people don’t believe this happens. After the BAMA game, Justin Vincent was speaking on the Surtain recruitment and said that Surtain was in the bag until rumors started amongst fans and support and they questioned the stability of the program. That’s what flipped him. People believe that boards like this in the social media days don’t effect recruits, but that’s just people trying to justify their bullshite.

Offensive line recruiting is definitely getting better. A lot better at that. We took 6 guys last year and have another 5 currently committed. We're still missing a great left tackle, but we now have quality depth across the board. If Rosenthal can start at LT next year and we can move Charles to RT, I think our line is going to be incredible next year.

LSU takes too many skill positions every class.
We took 15 OL/DL/LB/TE out of 22 last year. Right now, that number is 10/20. I think Orgeron is working to address the issues in this area, but unfortunately, OL and DL are developmental positions and it usually takes a couple of years for guys to start reaching their potential.
quote:

the dline was just very average with practically no pass rush capability at all. I'm not convinced Chaisson is the sole answer there you need more than 1 capable guy.

I agree. D line play and recruiting is concerning. I hope we add some quality guys in this class, because I don't understand how we can only have one actual defensive lineman, and he's an "under the radar" type at that. Still can't fathom how we missed on all the Mississippi guys.

People need to realize that kids are sold on the idea of come play at bama because of... best chance at National Championship, best HC in college football and so forth. So sometimes it doesn't matter how hard a HC tries to convince a kid to stay home... it's just not gonna happen.

LSU needs to keep beating the streets, show these kids LSU wants to win, don't give up and mostly... show up and win when you should.

You people DO realize that Saban also loses recruiting battles, right?! NOBODY gets all the players they want. We're doing a pretty damn good job of recruiting right now. Could it be even better? Sure! Hopefully it will get that way, but losing 1 kid from just down the road isn't the be all, end all for LSU or Orgeron.

I have several friends from that area and all of them and all of their family are big LSU supporters. I've actually been to exact restaurant for dinner and saw a ton of LSU gear. According to all my friends the Bama fans are few and far between with most being anti LSU people that just jumped on the Bama wagon.

This is the shite that kills me.

I'd like someone to meme a skinny cheeseball looking douche bag with a Bama houndstooth hat, Tom Brady jersey and Golden State Warriors basketball shorts holding up the number one. There should be a Lebron James jersey, USC football hat and Dallas Cowboys hat hanging out of a trash can behind him or on the ground. Meme should read "Sucks at everything in life except jumping on the bandwagon of the current sports dynasty."

Its exactly what is going on 90% of the time. Weird kid wants to feel bigger because he's not part of the normal kids group, so he picks the sports teams that make him feel better.

sorry /rant

Sweet melt brother

I’d have no qualms with it if O didn’t promise a bill of false goods. He is supposed to be the best recruiter in the country. Not an excuse maker.

Was horrible in the Country Day game. I expected domination by him. Country days kids probably weighed over 100 pounds less. Extremely underwhelming. Not even sweating if we don’t get him.
