What the hell is this? Is this your podcast or something?
Thanks, but no thanks.

its not. but if you want to make one, I am sure it would be highly entertaining since we would probably disagree on...everything.

Fair enough. I would love nothing better than O to prove me wrong, beat Saban and make the playoffs next year. That would be an awesome story.

You keep spinning it bro. Stay in denial my friend

I think you amended your post after I responded and I think you make fair comments here. However, Miles was fired because 9 wins a year weren't good enough and we were going to get a championship coach. We didn't and I don't think a good faith effort was done. I think we were lied to. In all honesty, I like O but he is a stop-gap coach. He's an above-average recruiter in the difficult position of trying to out-recruit Saban and Fisher. The Sopsher situation is one more piece of evidence showing that O's recruiting abilities alone are not going to be enough to keep us from being a middle of the pack SEC team.
Some people might say that's enough. But LSU was championship-caliber at one time. They're not now. A big part of that is because O is coach. He's a decent guy but he is not a championship-caliber coach and his recruiting results are no better than the guy he replaced
This isn't the rant. Why don't you take your O hate over there with other like minded fools.

Sospher is not going to LSU, it’s alabama. And, this made me sick all the Alabama gear being worn around that small town. As O would say he ain’t coming
This story isn't very believable. People like Sospher and those that support him do not eat at the Boston.

This thread is a shite show.

My job takes me to Amite a couple of times a week, including to the high school. To be honest, I don’t see any more bama support there than I do at any of the other towns in Tangipahoa Parish.

So, believing O is a "decent guy" but is a "stop-gap coach" is "O-hate" now? It's so much more believable that the entire town of Amite has been paid off that literally no coach could possibly keep a player from going to Bama.
So, in your opinion, what sets O apart as an elite coach that will bring LSU to the playoffs? If his recruiting prowess wasn't good enough to keep Sopsher and all the other guys LSU wanted that went to Alabama, what else does he bring to the table that makes him championship caliber? What was the reason LSU didn't score against Bama either this year or in 2016? Were they just unlucky?
If we just all keep telling ourselves O is a championship-caliber coach and drown out all the "foolish people" who "hate on O" will LSU win a championship? If so, why didn't we just do that with Miles?
Another question - is the entire town of Amite now hating on O? How much money would it take to make the town of Amite love O again so LSU can win a championship?
Am I seeing the issue clearly now?

You would have better luck talking to a lamp post.

You people DO realize that Saban also loses recruiting battles, right?!
I also know he's had the #1 recruiting class for like seven or eight years in a row, and I also know he picks off one or two top players from Louisiana just about every year.
Like I said before, so far, Coach O has not shown me where he's any better at recruiting than Les Miles was. Coach Miles usually had a top five class. I was told repeatedly that Coach O is so much better at recruiting. Well, so far he hasn't shown it to me. Still underwhelmed. I want him to show me.

quote:a lot easier to build off Saban's foundation (which was also Dinardo's) than it is to build off Miles. Miles had slipped a lot and worse so much attrition from Miles players, especially olines. The final rankings for the last few years were accurate at all. If those classes were rerated, it would be horrible for Miles.

What do you think, in your opinion, could have been done differently and what did O do wrong not to land the kid?
Prom, the thing he could have done differently is obvious - win. Win on the field, first and foremost, and win these recruiting battles. It’s not the posters on the rant who are supposed to know the keys to success, it’s the head coach.
I’m not saying Sopsher is a must-have. Winning is the only must-have. But as someone wisely posted above, it’s the lack of contingency plan, Orgeron has displayed so far, that is disturbing. We’ve had two position groups - cornerback and running back - skip a year because our 5 star, prize recruit rejected us. Both should have been told to commit early or else we’re filling the spot with our second choice.

I'm from Amite. This is how I know you are full of shite. You are seeing what you want to see if you were even actually there.

Apparently you aren't. This is the recruiting board not the place for your stupid bullshite. Once again take it to the rant.

Who told you that O was a better recruiter than Miles?
You live in a fantasy world.

Ben, maybe you need to just pursue your excellence elsewhere. It's obviously difficult for you to deal with all of the "O hate."

It's been done, and it doesn't shake out like you think it does.
247 does a roster talent comparison every year that takes into account attrition, transfers, etc.
The 2017 Talent Composite (which would effectively "re-rank" Miles' last four classes), has LSU as the 6th most talented team in the country and the 3rd most talented in the SEC behind only Bama and UGA. LINK
