It's a fact that paying $333,000 per month, per library is highway robbery
Id love to see the monthly breakdown of where the money actually goes. I bet the paper trail leads to some illegal activity.

I think the fire service level not the source dictates the insurance rates.
I would doubt the provider would ever change, but it's possible that the insurance rating could in time.
Btw, SGFD provides some service to BR.

The legislature unconstitutionally moved that money to the general fund to help band aid our budget crises... but who is going to hold them responsible amiright?

St George knows what they screwed up last time. Now people are hungry and ready to fight. St George is about to go on a PR shite wrecking tour.
The Low T Together Baton Rouge femmes are going to get steamrolled.

To sum this up, St George is not against the libraries...it was an example to illustrate their budget and compare it to something people know about.
Nothing more nothing less. I can imagine people will nitpick every tweet and look beyond it's intended purpose but then again isn't that the point of "internet resistance/sjw wisdom" ?

The point is also to show how much money we waste on government services that most citizens rarely use. That library on goodwood is top of the line. The one they are rebuilding downtown will be too. They are renovating another library soon too. The library system is flush with cash. The same thing can be said for BREC. There’s no reason we should vote for new taxes or any renewals of taxes. They have enough money and have all the upgrades they wanted.

Yep, but it didn't come across well.
The point should have been that if 58 million dollars can sustain a govt. entity with 460 plus employees and 14 buildings, it is plenty enough for what they intend to do in SG.
Remember SG isn't about a new Fire, parks, sewer, library, and sheriffs departments. We already receive those services via other entities. SG doesn't need to be as big as BR or NO city halls.

It's so obvious who the butthurt BR residents are who will be left out of SG. They are scared out of their minds because their honeypot of tax money is about to be taken away.

So what exactly is the tax money that St. George is taking away? I'm new to the game as I just graduated college within the last year. Won't they still have to pay taxes to EBRP and then to the city of St. George on top of that?

there is a huge difference between an actual budget for an entire library system for an entire parish and a fictitious budget for a small city that doesn’t exist yet.
True. Do we know what is the budget and population of Central? That would be more like apples to apples.

In a nutshell if the city of SG goes:
Sales tax amount won't change. The state gets its share. The school system gets its share. The sewer plan and the GL plan gets its share. Those are all parish wide taxes.
The big change is the 2% that currently goes to the parish general fund would now go to the city of SG.
That is estimated at 53 million dollars.
Licenses and fees that currently go to the parish, would be administered by SG. That's estimated at 5 million dollars. Those fees include occupational licenses, construction permits, etc.
Property taxes
There would be no changes at all.
If SG would ever form an ISD current taxes paid to the EBRSS would go to the new ISD. So would the state's payments.
Tax increases are purely speculative and it certainly is possible that SG voters could be asked to pay more taxes in the future. No one can tell you for certain they will or they won't.

Baton Rouge wouldn't care so much about that 2% staying in St George if they were not spending it elsewhere.

It's weird, Critics say the two percent isn't near enough to fund SG but without it parish finances will collapse.

Anyone reading the St.George Facebook page and comments on their posts?
Mental Midget(Kibbles) is in there running her mouth, looking like a fool as always. And when they prove her wrong, she goes to attacking people, rather than stay on topic or concede defeat.
