That is so true. The Jindal era cuts really didn’t get us anywhere, did they? Now we are so broke we are raising taxes to cover already existing obligations. This is where republican economics and tax policies get you. We are raising taxes to fight off default. Totally sucks.

This is where having crooks masquerading as politicians for 200+ years gets you. Our politicians are all dirty scum, yet the people continue to vote them in saying "This one... this one will be different". Spoiler, THEY WON'T.

Well there it is, an uncomfortable truth.

Yeah they are. They both told me themselves. I may be mistaken and they’re not “first cousins” but they’re certainly cousins even if a little more distant.

GOP should run Clay Higgins against Edwards. Higgins was able to decimate establishment GOPe like Angelle already. He has great appeal.

Have you ever met Clay Higgins? Err NO.

Nice enough guy. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

We have had a republican controlled legislature for how many years in LA? but some how is JBE's fault? There is no such thing as a conservative republican in LA.

I would vote for him and even campaign for him but I would have to pass on this idea because the people of Louisiana, particularly people who call themselves conservative, can't be trusted to have learned their lesson and make the choice they should've made in the first place.

If Vitter were to run again, he would have to do everything he can to meet and connect with voters, especially in the acadiana region and central Louisiana and make every debate and be willing to make some hard concessions to them.

Doesn't apply to 2015.

Vitter was one of the most, if not the most qualified and well credentialed conservative candidate to ever run for governor in Louisiana.

What got me behind him was his tort reform package to clean up the legal hellhole this state has with lawsuit abuse everywhere and reform proposals to take a sledgehammer to the corrupt sheriffs association and downsize their fiefdoms.

Remember when JBE said that he wouldn't raise taxes and he based that on his West Point Honor Code?

I bash him all the time, but he never said he wouldn't raise taxes. He always said that nothing was off the table.

Paid yes but we are 29th in tax burden. So those of us actually paying are paying more than Texas yet they seem to have better schools, roads, and police. Guessing it might have something to do with number of individuals not paying taxes...

Man, you guys have a pretty broken system over there.

I'm kind of surprised that you're able to retain any of your technical talent.

The tax package coming up on the floor Monday relies heavily on temporary sales tax hikes.

JBE was one of the signers of the Stelly Tax Plan repeal, over the wishes of Jindal (of all people)

Dardenne as despicable as he is, was honest enough to say that the next governor will have to raise taxes. The other 3 candidates said nothing of the sort and did everything they could to dodge the question.

Dardenne finished fourth in a 4 man race.
