Thank the party for letting Vitter run in the first place.
What could they have done to stop him? Even legally?
Vitter is one of the best bundlers this state has ever seen and a lot of pols owe him. They weren't doing shite to him.
quote:
Well, Vitter is all conservative talk but no action.
You have no idea what you're talking about. He not only forced the Louisiana legislature to enact term limits for itself that's still in place today and that's one big reason why they hate him.
He also had one of the most, if not the most conservative voting record as a senator for Louisiana.

And ANYONE who is banging hookers outside of his marriage is at risk of being blackmailed.
God. I hate bible thumpers like you who subject the rest of us to your morality who want no part of it. You deserve JBE's incessant screeches for more taxes, red tape and lawsuits that drives jobs out of this state.
There are tons of us who don't give a shite about infidelity as long as no tax dollars were abused or any illegal act took place:

Don’t thank me. Thank the party for letting Vitter run in the first place. A lot of conservatives didn’t vote for McCain or Romney because they were an insult to conservatism. Well, Vitter is all conservative talk but no action.
Put your blame on the La. Republican Party. I’ll vote however the hell I want. And one thing for sure is I will never vote for a loser who is at risk of being blackmailed in office. And ANYONE who is banging hookers outside of his marriage is at risk of being blackmailed.
Morals, principles, and convictions: Get some fast. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything!
This is exactly why the democrats will continue to win elections. Conservatives look for Morals, Principles, etc, to base their votes on.
Liberals will vote for their party no matter what to make sure their agenda is pushed forward. Look at Clinton, one of the worst presidential candidates ever and she still won the popular vote.

we're trying to have it both ways on this. you hear that type of thing all the time, and then you hear conservatives fight a gas tax increase tooth & nail because they say they don't believe it will go to roads.
I remember when they first passed the lottery and gambling in LA. All of the tax revenues were to go to schools and roads.. If anything both have gotten worse in the last 20-30 years. All those revenues somehow now go into the "general fund". Amazing how that happens and they want voters to trust them again??

Never Trumpers are just like Vitter haters were.
Thankfully there was too few of them to matter in the 2016 general election.

That is like when the lottery was established and all the money went to education. Lets call it 10 million a year. The state took the new lottery funds and put the 10 million into education and then they removed 10 million from the old fund. Net effect was a zero dollar increase in education funds...

This. The same happened with roads. They passed the gas tax that created the highway fund and then started raiding it to pay for city buses, sidewalks, state police, pensions, etc. Why would new gas tax money be expected to go to highways if the money we're currently paying isn't going there?

We don’t have to put up with antics like that guys. Really, is it that hard a standard to meet? Have a little self control, Vitter. C’mon man! Yes, contrary to your denials, blackmail is real. Plus, how many of you would be pissed if your wife ended up sleeping around? If infidelity was not a big deal, why don’t they preach its okay from the mountaintops?
Seriously, it’s a non-starter. Just keep your nose clean and you have all the tax dollars you’ll ever want to play with (and we know all of them abuse our hard earned tax dollars).
Besides, I’m smiling right now and y’all aren’t. And yes, it’s easy for the state party to not support a bad candidate (roadblocks, non-endorsement, etc.). And if the Repubs support that hothead Landry, guess I’ll have to cross party lines one more time.

Counter-point: I'm not electing a preacher or a teacher or even a life coach. I'm electing a governor. One's ability to keep their genitals to themselves has zero bearing on their ability to run the state of Louisiana. It's simply not part of the job description. Just look at what mayor Rob Ford accomplished despite being a crack head. He was a fantastic mayor.
As for blackmail, you can only effectively blackmail someone if the vast majority of people don't know about it. Vitter's skeletons had been out of the closet for damn near a decade. He had won re-election since the hooker scandal broke. You can't extort someone over revealing some secret that's already out.
Plus, JBE had his election night party at a French Quarter Strip Club for goodness sake!!!
You were choosing between two moral degenerates and chose the one that politically aligns exactly against your entire platform. Good job!

Incorrect. They go to the transportation trust fund.

It's a private matter for him and his family.

We're electing a governor to manage the fiscal ship and promote a healthy and business friendly tax climate, not a preacher to preach to us.
Keep your bible at home and quit subjecting the rest of us to your morality that has no basis in electing public officials.

No it's not.
They didn't endorse anyone or endorse against anyone. The LA GOP was completely neutral in 2015.

Quit being a weird bible thumper that's comfortable with tax and spend liberals stealing money from us and chasing jobs out of this state.

It's a good example of why Louisiana is dead last in almost every ranking.
The dumb keep getting dumber.

Yea right. elect a complete moron and see how far that gets you. We've been doing that for decades now anyway
Which is why Louisiana is giant dumpster fire.
Well that and the fact that the vast majority of Louisiana’s voters are stupid.

They really have no choice. The only available budget cuts would infuriate far more of the public.

I believe this is a reference to a Democratic fund raiser that the governor attended. Not even sure it was a fund raiser for him.
