Wait, you really think Vitter is a disciple of Jindal?
That's an insult to them both. Dude, they fricking hated each other and did everything they could to poach talent and influence from each other.
Jindal was behind Angelle's candidacy and lent money and campaign staff to him and he timed his exit from the Presidential race on the same week of the runoff to frick over Vitter good.
Jindal had no problem with a liberal democrat winning because he and Vitter hated each other that much. Probably gave his little brown penis a good fapping on election night.

Speaking of vitter, I wish they'd legalize prostitution in Louisiana like in Nevada

we're trying to have it both ways on this. you hear that type of thing all the time, and then you hear conservatives fight a gas tax increase tooth & nail because they say they don't believe it will go to roads.

I would like to thank the "conservatives" that elected this regressive Honor Code POS.

Read what you wrote---
"get us anywhere"???
I am not the government. I am a taxpayer. If the state government is broke it does not bother me or impact me in any significant way.
The state government made these obligations not me. They should get rid of them.
"We" are not the government. "We" are the taxpaying citizens.
I am so tired of hearing how "we" are in so much trouble because taxes are not high enough or because teachers aren't paid enough or because Georgia is subsidizing film makers more than us or because medicaid providers are not getting enough of our money or whatever.
The most repulsive statement to me ever uttered by a politician was JBE saying tax increases were a matter of "life or death".

Funding state government does not "get me anywhere"!!
I don't give one s*** about raising taxes to fund the state government.
Cut the lights out in the Governor's mansion and move JBE into a single wide in Roseland before you ask me for another cent.

Everything going to hell! Black Caucus throwing bombs! Barras pushing back floor votes
Let's see what settles out of this.

did you move under a rock for the eight years leading up to him?
Medicaid is the largest expense on the state and when JBE expanded Medicaid he compounded onto that expense. I am not saying that Piyush or the state legislature did anything to help the current situation by spending one-time money and kicking the can down the road. I am saying that increasing your already burdening expense, at a time when your state is not in a position to handle the long-term costs, is fiscally irresponsible and falls 100% on JBE.

Bobby Jindal was awesome for LA, right? He didn’t do anything to put the state in the situation it’s in now?

Much like on the national scene, the GOP is split between conservatives and "moderates". The moderates are former democrats who changed their party when Jindal was elected so that they could keep their prominent positions and influence without ever changing the way they voted (Alario is a prime example of this).
This means that even though the GOP has control nominally, realistically, they do not because the "moderates" of their party tend to vote alongside the democrats as they did back when they were democrats. The letter next to their name changed, but their principles did not. For this reason, the democrats actually have a plurality in the Senate because they vote in lock step while the GOP is fractured between warring factions that hate each other. Since the governor also has a ton of power to extort legislators, he basically owns the Senate.
The House is a different animal. The dem turncoat faction of the GOP makes up a smaller percentage of the House and the GOP majority is a little more comfortable. This allows them to at least put up the illusion of a fight. However, that line-item veto is still extremely powerful, so the Governor usually gets 90% of what he wants out of them, and the special session at the end of the regular session is typically grappling over that last 10%, of which the governor typically gets at least 5%.

He didn't cut my taxes. He was bad for La because he left in place this huge government that he should have cut. He should have ended film tax credits instead of expanding. He should have closed SUNO and should have ended TOPS. He should have done a lot of things.

He didn't raise taxes like these bozos want too. He should have drastically cut spending but did not but he didn't sit around inventing ways to raise taxes as JBE does.
I don't care the condition of the state government.
I care about the condition of the state taxpaying citizens.
Why does anyone want to put the health of state government above the taxpaying citizens??

Who the hell is saying Jindal did a good job?
Everytime JBE is criticized on here JBE's fans bring up Jindal to take the heat of off Edwards.

Don’t thank me. Thank the party for letting Vitter run in the first place. A lot of conservatives didn’t vote for McCain or Romney because they were an insult to conservatism. Well, Vitter is all conservative talk but no action.
Put your blame on the La. Republican Party. I’ll vote however the hell I want. And one thing for sure is I will never vote for a loser who is at risk of being blackmailed in office. And ANYONE who is banging hookers outside of his marriage is at risk of being blackmailed.
Morals, principles, and convictions: Get some fast. If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything!

"The party" has zero say in who runs or who calls themselves a republican thanks to our Open Primary system. Anyone can run as whatever party they want to register as.
I don't understand how few people understand that.
All the state GOP can do is help provide organization and fundraising, where Vitter already had all of that in place. The State GOP could denounce their multi-term U.S. Senator all the want and it wouldn't have done a thing to him.
Who do you think most republican voters in Louisiana trust more: Villere or Vitter?

Everyone knew about Vitter and hookers and he had already been re-elected to the U.S. Senate AFTER those revelations. How can he be blackmailed for conduct everyone already knows about?
That would be like trying to blackmail Kip Holden or Edwin Edwards for marital infidelity.
