Calandro’s is surprisingly good for a grocery store. Their cream cheese is my favorite.

+1

My favorite is the Pecan Cream Cheese from there. Simple and delicious!!

Just bought a Hi-Do cream cheese. Super delicious and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Just had my first taste of a Dong Phuong king cake. It was easily the best I've ever had.

I got to Zuppardo's about noon and they had them stacked by the entrance, limit 2 per customer. But the time I checked out, the bagger and cashier commented how lucky I was to get one, because they already sold out!

Kind of pricey at $17 for a 30 oz cake, but worth it.

Anyone know what the icing is made of?

I’ve been big on Dong Phoung king cakes for a while. Someone brought us a strawberry short cake king cake from Maurice’s to our office and most people there said it was the best they have ever had. Of course it isn’t a traditional king cake.

Have you gotten one from Calandro’s yet this year? We picked up two of the mini king cakes ($5.99–smaller than the “small” one). They’re horrible. We got a plain cinnamon & a cream cheese. They’re both hard and dry. Worse than Walmart king cake. I had one piece & threw it away. This is the first time I’ve gotten the super small ones, and the first time a king cake from there has been bad. I’m hoping it’s a fluke, and the normal sized ones are still good.

I won't say this one is the best but it's not bad at all. Yesterday afternoon I stopped at the Winn Dixie for sole slaw and saw they had King Cakes near the entrance so I took a look. I grabbed a medium cream cheese filled for $10.00. Just had a piece and was surprised how good it is. Filled with just the right amount and has layers like a cinnamon roll and sort of reminds me a little of McKenzie's a little bit but not as dry. For ten bucks it's worth a try.
The prices of King Cakes has gotten ridiculous by most of the specialty bakers. This one was good and I didn't feel raped!

Does anyone know of any place in the Lafayette area that makes king cakes that are similar tasting to Randazzo's?

They are very good. I like the filled ones better, but enjoy the plain ones. If you ever come down here to Springfield, swing by Hammond and go to Berry Town Produce too. Both are top notch.

I live two mins from Navarre's and work in Baton Rouge. Wire me money and I will deliver.

Yes I got a normal sized one yesterday and it was moist and delicious. The smaller ones don't sell which cause them to be hard and dry.

Will all these places ship? If so, can someone whom I respect just tell me which place to order from?
