My contribution to this thread is that there are a lot of bad king cakes in BR. A lot of dry and crackly ones.

I just ate Haydels today and I don't see what is so special about it. I don't think it tasted any different than Rouses.

Party Palace king cakes are really good. We picked one up from Maxwell's and it was awesome. $17 for king cake that wasn't huge is expensive but it was good
