re: Coach O's wins looking a lot less impressive

I haven't. I'm not going to argue statistics from that game. LSU had too many scoring chances that they couldn't convert. Just one of those wins the game. Fournette should have sat and Guice should have stayed on the field after the fumble.
Call me crazy but the effort against Florida and Bama are a wash even with two losses. Let's face it. In order to win the West, LSU must beat Bama. That game is essentially the whole season. Even in a down year, the conference is too tough to expect the only loss coming from Bama.

Apparently, you already have. No offensive coordinator or special teams coach is directly responsible for a players fumbling the ball (Guice and Jackson) or going the wrong way and fumbling the ball again (Guice). LSU beat that team in every way but on the scoreboard. It is what it is.

Yeah, the guy who finished sixth in the AAC this season is the best up and coming coach in the nation. What O did at USC and LSU is much more impressive than finishing sixth in the American.
Not to mention losing to teams with less talent in Navy, SMU(38-16) and Memphis. Seems like there were six better coaches in that conference alone.

That game should not have even been close. Florida had a ton of players out of that game.

This should be worked into the LSU creed. It's becoming a new tradition.

What? Is this a serious comment? What do you think O was doing during the timeout before the final play? If he wasn't in the discussion about that play then what in the hell is he good for?
People are constantly trying to lower the bar for O. It seems nothing is ever his fault. I even heard Ott on the radio this week trying to explain how LSU's schedule is too difficult next year. He was of the opinion that no coach could succeed with that schedule.
O's PR machine is already making excuses for next year.

So, based on those astute observational skills, what do you recommend?
Posted on 12/30/16 at 8:59 am to FiddleHead
Wait, are we still arguing for or against a hire that was made? This is so fricking dumb.

I guess that means that Bama ain't so hot either. SEC is still #1. Can't judge the SEC by their bowl record.

You sure about that??

What excuse will you guys cone up with when LSU beats Louisville handily?
Posted on 12/30/16 at 9:13 am to FiddleHead
Losing to Fla isn't on O. Player execution lost that game. Guice runs the wrong way on the last play. Screwing up on attempted fg's. 2016 will go down as the year of what should have been with all the returning starters. However Miles botched that game one and poof just like that the season was over in regards to playoffs.
For those who say Miles would have beaten A&M and Arkansas that may be true but he would have made the games much closer than they needed to be. See Miss st. Chalk up 2016 as the "change needed to happen" year.

Les was finding ways to stay close or lose to teams he should have "handled".

By that reasoning, so is Saban's.

The decision was made. He's our coach whether most of us are happy about or not. Let's just support the guy and give him a fair chance.
Need to get rid of alleva before he can make another garbage hire.

I mean Les was our coach and people didn't support him...
