What's your take on the chiropractic profession?

Anyone have any success stories from a chiropractor visit or are they quacks without real medical knowledge?

It’s just releasing back farts. It can give some temporary relief but that’s all they are doing. Don’t go for a realignment though. Just don’t.

I know that the greatest money laundering scheme in the world is the "get rear-ended, go to the chiropractor" bit. Ambulance chasers and chiropractors make serious bank on this.

I’ve never been to a back cracker, but I imagine those with back pain are willing to try anything. I’ve heard both good and bad reports.

The chiro I've used for a decade is basically a sports therapist, and the traditional chiropractic adjustment that most people think of is about 90 seconds at the end. She and her partner can read MRIs, and the masseuses are really good at targeting "root cause" musculature problems.
ETA: I go for strained muscles, etc. not back pain. Most back pain is caused by shitty posture, and weak abs.

I had a herniated disc in my lower back about 10 years ago. I couldn’t stand for more than 30 seconds without have to get down on my knees or sit down. I had to sleep in a chair. The pan was unbearable and I was ready to get cut on because of the intense pain.
Last ditch effort because I’d do anything to avoid surgery was going to a chiropractor. He told me that the disc is capable of healing itself, you just have to get the pressure off of it. He said, give me 6 weeks and I’ll get you feeling better.
After 2 months of treatment, 3 times a week, I never felt the pain again. I didn’t get another MRI to see if the disc was still herniated, but I know my pain level was zero when 8 weeks before it was 10.
Chiropractor’s are like every profession, there are good ones and bad ones. You just have to find a good one and they can make a difference.

I posted on here within the last 2-3 months about an issue I had. Right hand getting numb and tingly, couldn’t sleep without heating pads, and even then it wasn’t comfortable. My back would hurt in various spots. Constant pain. I saw the chiro for maybe 5-6 weeks. It’s been great since I stopped. So far, so good.

I have never seen a female chiropractor.
I don’t think they exist.

Some refer to them as Dr. Crackabones.

I've seen a chiropractor a few times. They always alleviated my pain. It's a legit profession but I'm certain there is fraud that occurs like with mist anything else.

They seem to really work for some people, which makes a lot of other people very upset.

I’ve done it once in the past for about a month period and it was fantastic. That said, most people don’t realize you really need to workout and rebuild those areas they are adjusting and realigning. I’ve thought about going back just for a maintenance once a year but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

All I know is a chiropractor helped me where doctors didn’t. Adjusted me with a hammer tool, no cracking. Alignment fixed me.

Best friend you can have is a lawyer that is a good friend of a chiropractor.

What did he do specifically? I have a herniated disc in my lower back as well and have heard than spinal decompression is good for it.

My fishin camp neighbor became a chiropractor after his family kicked him out of the family grocery business. When I had a rotator cuff tear, he fixed dat shite with semi weekly sessions over several months for free.
I think it is legit, but they only survive as long as insurance pays the bills.
