My wife worked for one years ago. I'm 6'2 and she was taller than me and her hands were huge so maybe it was a man after all.

This thread again?? They're legit.
The best ones I've been too prioritize stretching and muscle relaxation, not just cracking bones.
YMMV though and you might have to go through a couple to find the right one.

I have lived all over the country but I have never seen more chiros than in rural Virginia. They are everywhere and outnumber real doctors 10 to 1

Chiropractors who think chiropractic treatment can cure cancer are psycho.
Chiropractors who crack backs are ok.
Chiropractors who crack backs and who do muscle manipulation are good.
Chiropractors who are actually physical therapists and who do back cracking as a means of temporarily relieving pain but then go into things like strength and mobility and how to get back to zero are great.
This is a good summary

Is that the guy that puts his patients neck in a brace and pulls? Or would the, let me contort your neck in this position that you will never be in, and give you a slight twist so you can hear the crack at C1/C2?

And sometimes to find these you have to go through a few of these

I grew up being told that they were quacks and it wasn’t real medicine, so I didn’t think much of them.
One day a few years ago, I slipped a disk once and was damn near immobile. Couldn’t get an appointment with my doctor or specialist in the near term. A friends dad is a chiropractor and I said why not. Went in, he checked it all out and applied a TENS unit, and then did the adjustments every couple days. Honestly, it worked and I would feel better for about 24 hours before it would hurt again. After about a month, it felt completely better and I was ready to quit going in. He said to come in one more time so we could have a serious discussion. I was kinda freaked out about it…and then I got there and he tried to sell me essential oils.
Tough to hate on the results of the actual chiropractic elements but come on dude…essential oils?

Quacks who are destroying the country with scum Plaintiff Attorneys

i mean kept me from having to have surgery in my mid 20s from a pinched nerve in my back
they aren't miracle workers though and a simple adjustment is not going to cure everything like some will tell you
but they absolutely have a place in treatment and prevention of injuries. Just like a doctor of physical therapy does.
the problem is many chiros act high and mighty and many make outrageous claims instead of saying...yea we can be apart of a full treatment plan and can help.
also many chiros have decided they dont want to learn anymore and do not understand how strength training can help clients. Some physical therapist are like this too.
any doctor that believes their way is the only thing that can help and it can solve everything is a quake, I dont care if its a PT, Chiro or whatever.

They've provided me much needed relief. Don't like them, don't go.

Chiropractor’s are like every profession, there are good ones and bad ones. You just have to find a good one and they can make a difference
This
As a physician I was taught that they were quacks, luckily early on I had a positive interaction with a good one and allowed him to work on my neck. Nothing magic, no high velocity adjustments. It helped and he showed me how to repeat it. Had bothered me since a football injury in teh 10th grade. No problems since. I have him and one other I trust. They have great clinical judgement. Confer with me on treatment plans and won't keep doing shite that's not working for more money. It's cheaper than PT and that's a lot of what they do. And neither is into the personal injury shite other than doing legit treatments and legit evals. I know one in Dallas area that's a Chiro and went back for PT. He's great if I need a high level eval on someone.
Same with podiatry. Ortho foot guys want to cut. They don't give a shite about custom orthotics/bracing or other non-surgical ways to treat foot problems. Once again, their aren't that many good ones, and most of them are older. A good one is worth their weight in gold for your patients needing diabetic foot care or with foot pain.

I’ve never been to a back cracker, but I imagine those with back pain are willing to try anything. I’ve heard both good and bad reports.
Any time I've had back pain, I've always given my chiropractor the first "crack" at it (pun intended). So far it's worked and I haven't needed any actual medical intervention.

I had a pinched nerve in my neck from jiu jitsu. Pain shooting all down my arm and couldn't turn my head. First visit was instant relief, but chiro said that inflammation would come back probably within a day and I'd see symtoms again. Needed two more visits with some neck traction to fully get it fixed. It worked. It happened again about a year later after I got bucked off a horse and landed on my back. 3 visits again did the trick. There's a reason that doctors and chiropractors have a "practice", as some have better practice than others. You have to find a good one, just like with a medical doctor. If you do find a good one, they're definitely worth it.

Dr Cathy at Get Off My Nerves Chiropractic in BR was awesome. I'm sad she just retired.

Chiropractic treatment can turn a back that was sore for 3 days and a case worth $1,000.00 into a year plus of treatment and a case worth $20-30,000 plus. As long as they continually treat there is really no way to dispute it if they claim to still have pain. It really is a scheme.

In the past, I have used them and it tends to work for me - as long as you find one that knows what they're doing and make the effort to actually do what they recommend. The mills that give you a good pop and send you on your way are not what you're looking for. Like most things, it takes a little work from the person to do the stretches and exercises.
