Problem is there is a lot of room for fools and idiots to sneak into the field. But I think body mechanics is a legitimate thing that doctors appear to fall flat in.

Get yourself a dose of TMJ and have a chiropractor that can fix it. The quacks that say they can fix heartburn are just that, quacks. But mine fixed my TMJ and for that I’m grateful.

That's why I said his family booted him from the family grocery business. Dude is also a suspect "comedian"...but he did improve my shoulder. He was able to make a good living in chirpracty. He was fully certified and it takes a while to complete the program. I doubt a complete idiot could make it, but it isn't as rigorous as getting an MD or even a PT.

Avoid high velocity neck adjustments unless you want to gamble with vertebral artery dissections

quote:It was 10 years ago so I don’t recall exactly what he did, but he took the pressure off the disc by stretching me out. Never cracked anything. Probably spinal decompression, but I don’t recall what he called it. Then he gave me 7 or 8 yoga poses to do daily at home. I still do them if my back ever tightens up.
What did he do specifically? I have a herniated disc in my lower back as well and have heard than spinal decompression is good for it.

Id try anything before having neck or back surgery.

For joint, muscle, etc pain - there's a role
For actual medicine and the quacks pushing some bs products and the stupid ones that do that random clicking device - crocks

I was thinking the same thing

I pulled something in my side lifting something very heavy. The pain lingered for about two weeks and then got so bad I could barely sit up straight and started having back spasms. I decided that day at work to go to a doctor but was unsure if I should go to my regular doctor or ER. I ended up calling a chiropractor close to my house and got an appointment for that same day. I walked out feeling so much better. I went through a six week program, going twice a week for adjustments and haven’t felt the pain since. I’m most impressed that the pain subsided without any shots or meds. I’m a believer in them now.

This thread again? There was one just recently LINK
I've had a great one I go see every once in a while because of sciatica. Decompression table FTW.

What do I think about chiropractors? You mean do I think they’re real doctors? Answer’s yes and no. But more no than yes.

I know that the greatest money laundering scheme in the world is the "get rear-ended, go to the chiropractor" bit. Ambulance chasers and chiropractors make serious bank on this.
Medical applications they can provide some holistic medical care, but once they get involved in a rear end case, you would think they had the healing power of Jesus and charge you out a pretty penny for it. All the while, exaggerating injuries to the court just to get a policy max for the attorney.
I saw on Facebook one attorney bragging about getting a 30k policy max settlement. I wonder how that worked for the client. Did they get a few crumbs after fees and other medical costs?

The pain might have resolved but the chiropractor didn't fix a rotator cuff tear.

Do your research and find a legit one. Mine does x-rays annually and goes over the curvature of your spine and the changes over time.
The massage gun thing at the end alone is worth the visit. Plus my Chiro is my golf buddy now and he has adjusted me on the course and fixed my game immediately just be watching my swing.

That’s awesome and I’m glad to hear it worked.

Orthopedic surgeons do the same thing

Glorified physical therapists at best. I never call them doctor.

Chiropractors who think chiropractic treatment can cure cancer are psycho.
Chiropractors who crack backs are ok.
Chiropractors who crack backs and who do muscle manipulation are good.
Chiropractors who are actually physical therapists and who do back cracking as a means of temporarily relieving pain but then go into things like strength and mobility and how to get back to zero are great.
