would you push them toward the college offering the most NIL money or tradition/playing time??

I guess it depends if you're poor or not. If I was in a tough financial situation it might sway how I would be influencing my kid.

Playing time / development as 1a/1b
NIL least important because it can spoil kids that early in life

I would tell my child to make a list of the pros/cons of each school. I would then offer my opinion/advice but ultimately let my child decide. It's his or her choice, not mine.

Probably NIL if we were sure the payout was real. I’d want to look at some actuarial tables about injury rates though. I think you take the most reliable chance to make the first few million ASAP and then manage it wisely so that injury doesn’t cost you a fortune.
The main exception would be getting my kid to an Ivy League or pseudo-Ivy caliber school (like Stanford) where “going pro in something other than sports” isn’t a punch line.
Of course it’s all the kid’s decision ultimately. But hopefully he would take these things into account.

If my kid had legit NFL aspirations I want him at the best school for developing talent. If he is mid I want him at the best academic school because lifetime earnings is going to go a lot longer of a way than whatever NIL he is going to get.

I assume offers are relatively the same across the board.
I’d rather make $800k and play, than $910k and not play or not be happy

It depends on the NIL number.
We had a local guy my son played with go to Oklahoma State, his NIL offer was $9,000.00
In that case you better go where you can, they aren't all getting rich.

That's a fair counter. Guess it depends. If Toledo is offering $150k NIL per year but Duke is offering $75k I think Duke is the no brainer. If it's Northwestern offering $150k and Stanford offering $75k then I think you take the more money offer (assuming the kid doesn't want to do math things).

There isn't one set answer here.
How well off or not is the family already? How different are the offers? How different are the schools in terms of development and playing time? Are you locked into a multiyear deal or can you transfer after one year with no financial penalty if you aren't happy with the coaching?
Highly variable based on the situation.

The one with the most valuable degree if football doesnt work out probably coincides with plenty of playing time. If the NIL difference is not life altering, that one.

If my kid was 2 or 3 star D1 talent and had an opportunity to go to a strong academic school like Northwestern, Duke, Michigan St., Rutgers, something like that I would be over the moon about it. Va Tech or Georgia Tech would be awesome.
With transfer rules now, if he got there and blossomed you could always go to an NFL development type program but honestly, if you are In a major conference you are going to get seen anyway.

It really does depend on the conditions that we are currently living in. Now, if your kid is a top recruit and schools are all offering similar big money, I'd go with the best fit and the $$.
If you're a typical middle class family that is financially okay, or better then just go to the school you want to go to.

neither guarantees playing time necessarily. if anything, you'd think the higher pay would be more probable to importance thus playing time.

If we are talking like a $100k+ difference and the schools are pretty similar (not like Ohio State vs Tulsa or something) and the kid is pretty torn because he likes both schools, I would push them toward going with more NIL. Pretend that $100k doesn't even exist and throw it all in an investment account.

What do you want to major in? Of the schools that are offering scholarships, which one(s) are ranked higher for your intended field of study?
