Agree. That's how we got BK.

Lipsy, Ballard, Temple, etc....they're not talking.

What you hear from an "insider" is them talking to their friends and others in the business. This is a gold mine for them and they'll continue to push bullshite to gain engagements.

Yeah they want Kiffen, saban or lanning. Surprisingly I think Saban is actually the most likely to come here but if that doesn't work out which is likely you have to get someone that is less proven.

This would be stupid if so. You can't get any more proven than Kelly seemed to be when he was hired and look how that worked out. Most of the guys who are on top of college football right now were coordinators when they were hired by their current school.

Right. BK was a proven big time coach.

Saban was ascending and not a big time coach. Won a national championship.

Les was ascending and not a big time coach. Won a national championship.

Ed was neither proven or a big time coach. Won a national championship.

BK was proven big time coach. Did not win a national championship.

I wonder who that could be. All the big time names like Kirby, Day, DeBoer, Lanning, Cignetti, etc, all have good gigs and are well compensated and won't be leaving. Lane? Freeman?

Lanning has a stupid buyout with Oregon if he leaves. They were embarrassed by Cristobal leaving and decided that won’t happen again. It’s what scared Bama off when they were searching. Lanning was the first option but the buyout they would have to pay to Oregon pushed them to DeBoer

ETA: just looked it up and if Lanning leaves Oregon he has to pay them $20 million

The BK firing accelerated so quickly I don’t think anyone truly knows what they’re looking for just yet or even who the ultimate decision maker is.

The insiders are just content feeding for clicks right now. We have at least another month plus of speculation before things really ramp up

They can shoot their shots, but seems like the top proven coaches have really comfy, well-paid, low-pressure gigs already.

Agreed on BK being as sure bet hire as can be made. Problem was he was spent and as Hayride alluded BK assumed “if idiots like Miles and O can win nattys here this job is easy”.

It’s hard to fault Woody as detecting burnout is extremely difficult in an interview process.

I mean there aren't that many "proven big time head coaches" out there that we could realistically get. The list drops off pretty quick if one or two guys says no

Also his salary doesn’t include whatever Phil Knight is paying him on the side either.

3 coaches have one a national championship in the NIL era
Day, Harbaugh, and Smart. If LSU isn’t targeting those guys then what’s the intention of the football program?

Bilj is right

I don’t think a soul anticipated firing Kelly when they woke up Sunday morning.

There is no list right now and that’s ok
