That would make prank calling great again

The 80's also didn't have the same amount of spoofing bullshite and internet the scammers have now

There aren't many kids from today that you could drop in 1980 and they'd be fine. They'd be a little lost without devices, social media and xbox.

They’d probably be more annoyed by no internet and having to adjust the rabbit ears to get one of the 5-10 channels.

This has nothing to do about caller id but, my grandma had a rotary phone and I was amazed at the thing when I was a kid. I don’t think kids these days would be able to figure it out.

These kids who can't carry conversations and prefer texting to talking on phone, if they couldn't see who was calling them, they would totally freak.

Yup. India was still a third world country, instead of the shithole it’s become today.

Correct. Kids today don’t realize how fun it was to actually go outside and play with friends

The worst part to them would be having to call their friends house knowing it's likely that one of their friends parents would pick up.

You remember how you would turn the tv to certain channel or hit a few input buttons to get the tv to sync up with the vcr?
And how sometimes it didn’t work like it was supposed to, so you would just turn the tv and vcr on and off a few times until it worked?
Imagine explaining that process to a kid today.

frick that. Just hand them a paper map or Rand McNally atlas of the states, sit back, and watch the show.

Considering the lack of spam in the 80's, I think most would embrace it

Or give up just dropping into some skank’s DMs and having to speak to that skank’s parents first because they want to know what guy is trying to hook up with their daughter.

Unfortunately not a kid anymore but young enough to have never seen the 80s. I’d kill to go back to that time back when USA was at its pinnacle culturally, socially and globally as basically the sole world superpower by the end of the Cold War

Even the 90’s. I’d *67 that shite and do some prank calls. Then when I was bored with that, I’d blow on the cartridge of a video game to get it going. That’s after we rode our bikes across a narrow cement ledge over a ditch that may or may not have had sewage in it. The struggle was real.

We had cable by 1980, but it was cable with maybe 12-15 stations. Today's kids would have issues with dial phones, no internet, and manual transmissions, but they would soon learn. Getting used to the more physical aspect of life -- getting out and playing football, basketball, tennis, and other games just to have something to do, would probably be the biggest transition.
