Man- is there a better value?

$7 feeds the family with a side and bread.

Can barely buy a lb of chicken tenders for that…

Any if you use these in dishes? Other than just eating it

I always have one in fridge. I'll make sandwiches or tortillas with some of the meat. Then stew what's left and get soup or broth. Plus i use the skin and meat i don't like for dog treats.

Sometimes. Honestly, I can almost finish an entire one myself sometimes.

We pull it apart and make a salad with the leftovers.

Sam’s is only $5- it’s worth the membership all by itself. I can’t stop myself when I bring one home. Peel the skin off, pull a wing (sometimes both), a thigh. You simply can’t beat it. I love to make chicken salad with a whole chicken and eat on it all week long

It's a great value. Usually get about four or five from Sam's and freeze them to use for the dogs. I add a cup or two to the kibble everyday. One chicken will be enough for a week for the dogs. And Sam's is the best value at 5 dollars and usually the best tasting and biggest bird. Sams over Costco IMO.

I will use one for sandwiches or if I want to make chicken salad as well. Great on two fronts.

I use it as a cheat code in my chicken and sausage gumbo.

Got an undercooked chicken the last time. That put a damper on the rotisserie chickens ever since.

Bloody breast is not appealing. (Delivery btw so not my choice of chicken)

The Costco one for $5 is great but I hate the packaging switch they did on them

Yeah rotisserie chicken and the hot dog and drink special are among the “loss leaders” at Costco. It wasn’t long ago the chickens were under $3.

We get the prepicked too. Obviously more per pound but worth the labor, time and space savings. We make all sorts of quick meals with it.

My wife pulls it apart and puts it in her chicken and dumplings. Saves a big step and adds flavor!

It's also great for making some quick things when you just need to add some protein

I took some chicken meat and added to some instant ramen today to make it more filling and have some protein.

That's been a fun debate in the comment section on Twitter.

While I agree the hot plastics can't be healthy, what else is out there that is as affordable and relatively healthy?

Costco loses more than $1 on every one they sell. I know because my SIL's brother raises them for Costco. He's mostly a corn farmer but Costco pays him reasonably well for the chickens. Costco is heavily involved, they gave him the plans he had to use for the chicken sheds, drop off the chicks and food, and pick up the chickens on their schedule. It's pretty much a cost plus operation for him. Grocery stores sell rotisserie chickens at a loss to bring people in to the store.

My sister has been ill and her church has been bringing by food. They've brought the Sam's rotisserie chicken twice now and we had to throw it out both times. The first time, it had several white feathers on it. Biggest thing was they tasted awful. They're also the size of a pterodactyl. That can't be normal.

It’s not often that people go to Sam’s/Costco and leave with just a chicken.

No rotisserie chicken thread would be complete without this

Kroger and harps have the best around here.

Walmart usually doesn’t cook them evenly and the wings and legs are overcooked and dried out.
