Jahkeem Stewart bidding war

For a kid who has played zero football this year and has only played a grand total of 12 varsity football games, I truly do not understand or believe ANY program should be throwing the brinks truck at him to secure his commitment. Is he deserving of a NIL deal? Probably so, but to fork out millions of dollars on not just an unproven P4 player but a kid who has barely played any high school football blows my mind. Use that money on proven players ready to make an instant impact from Day 1 through the portal.

I really am having a hard time wrapping my head around this era of football.
It seems like spending more in the portal on already proven players than on HS recruits makes infinitely more sense

this era makes it easier for the star gazers to say they "won" NSD when in reality they're throwing a ton of money at a lot of kids who probably wont pan out

Good to know how you feel. I am
passing along the info to CBK before he does something silly.

Yeah if he was an out of state prospect we would have left the conversation a while ago.

I know they are just camps, but he has dominated in them. That’s why people are willing to pay. I’m totally fine with us not paying that money, but if he did sign today, I’d be fricking ecstatic.

If these sad rumors are true theb i think i will disconnect my football prgramming tv! I cant stomach the thought of getting stabbed in the back by the boys this proud state raised! Money is ruining these boys futures and warping their minds. True student athletes are no more then i may have to be a fan no more!

This is basically what is happening in baseball.

I think most Tiger fans would happily lose him for two more physically ready Junior transfers. Seeing that CFB is now completely about next year and little else.
So many of these top classes will transfer out. Thinking further down the road than next year is probably not the best use of our time.

By way of comparison, Ole Miss got Walter Nolan, a proven star DL, out of the portal. Admittedly, they got only one year of eligiblity, but that is all you can rely on nowadays anyway.
What did OM pay him? A million?
I know, inflation, inflation...

Unlike baseball or basketball, pure athleticism translates much more in football. You’ve actually seen basketball and rugby players come in at the NFL level and be successful.
Stewart may or may not be able to turn that potential into production

Sadly there are a couple of schools who can afford to do both.
TX, 8&4, Ducks, and Michigan, but that’s only anyone who peaks the fancy of a multi billionaires 5th wife

Either Stewart will take less money than USC is offering to come here or he will go to USC. Simple as that. They are all on very thin ice over there at USC so he could be in the portal as early as end of next season if they dont produce, just go back and get him then, probably for a discount.

Jahkeem Stewart is not remotely worth 2 million per. USC is massively overspending to land him. A reclassified defensive lineman with 1 year of high school film is not worth elite QB money.

You can't have a team of all transients, you have to build some level of base with HS recruits obviously.
But it seems like allocating a higher amount to the portal makes some level of sense.
You also have to figure out the TYPE of players to go after in HS recruiting vs Portal.

Said it in another thread, but we have recruited very well on the D-line last couple cycles. If we hadn't, we probably would've been forced to overspend on Stewart.

I know $$$$$, but that place is a shite show right now and Lincoln Riley has never once been able to field a decent defense. You have to think that that is on his mind a little bit today. I’m sure he’ll take the money and run, but he has to deep down know that is not the best place for his development whatsoever.

On his radio show Moscona reported Nolan got 1.2 million to go to Ole Miss.
Stewart isn’t worth 2 million.
