Being the last Whig president isn’t that memorable due to how unmemorable the Whig Party was. It only lasted for about 20 years, and Zachary Taylor’s 16 months in office were the only time that a true Whig served a semblance of a presidential term. William Henry Harrison’s entire cabinet quit when John Tyler became president because Tyler was a Democrat posing as a Whig, and Filmore seems to have been a Democrat posing as a Whig too.
The reason why Filmore arguably shouldn’t be on an unmemorable presidents list is because he’s a tiny bit famous for his obscurity. The groups of people who read books of meaningless facts like Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader- they’ll sometimes analogize meaningless, obscure things to Millard Filmore. For whatever reason Millard Filmore ended up being the go-to president to analogize to obscure things rather than some other obscure president.

McKinley and Teddy both faced assignation attempts by the same movement that eventually lit the WWI fuse in Sarajevo. McKinley was greeting the public at the world's fair and got stabbed. Teddy got shot outside of a Milwaukee hotel and insisted on giving his speech before having the wound tended to.

We've had multiple presidents who were assassinated or who died while in office:
William Henry Harrison - died of pneumonia
Zachary Taylor - died of either cholera or gastroenteritis
Abraham Lincoln - assassinated by John Wilkes Booth

William McKinley - assassinated by Leon Czolgosz
Warren Harding - died of a heart attack
John F. Kennedy - assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald
I guarantee of the presidents on this list, the only ones the average American has heard of ar Abraham Lincoln and JFK. When you tell them that we had a president with the last name of Garfield, I would not doubt if a common response would be something along the lines of: "Like the cat?"

Franklin Pierce: not much
Rutherford B. Hayes: you mean “Rutherfraud, His Fraudelncy”? Decent history regarding an election that ultimately was decided extra constitutionally. Worth a chapter in an American history book.
James Garfield: he was shot so there is that.

I think being on a list of only 4 presidents to be assassinated, makes you pretty unforgettable. Not to mention, you couldn’t forget his name learning about him as a kid, due to Garfield the cat
He didn’t even want to be president, and had he not been assassinated, would probably have made for a pretty memorable one.

Common connection to three on the list, besides being assassinated, is Robert Todd Lincoln. Of course, Lincoln’s son but served in the administrations of Garfield and McKinley. He was in the DC train station when Garfield was shot. RT fetched a local doctor to attend to Garfield - the same doctor who tended to his father the night he was shot. The doctor was incompetent to some degree. The book about Garfield death is called ‘Destiny of the Republic’ by Candace Millard. One tidbit was the x-ray was just being invented and they offered to x-ray Garfield to find the bullet. The ole doctor said sure but you can only x-ray Garfield’s left side…the bullet was in his right side.

Louisiana was involved in the fraudelncy due to voting irregularities, imagine that. Louisiana was one of 3 states that had different voting results certified by different state entities. the state legislature certified one set and the state voting commission the other. One political party knew they couldn’t win the state so they created the appearance of voter fraud. They stole their own party’s paper ballots en route to several parishes. After the election, said political party claimed the other side stole the ballots to keep their constituents from voting. Thus, the chaos began.
