I had to go to urgent care last week and was sent to the ER at BR General Bluebonnet. It was awesome. They are on top of their game over there.

Pretty sure there’s a new law where any medical debt under $500 doesn’t get reported to your credit report.
Doctors offices & urgent cares are refusing to see people who have balances with them.

Was this in Somalia?
Close, it was BR. The cut was on the midde finger where it meets the index finger so there was no way to apply direct pressure without speading my fingers apart and opening the gash. I had to sqeeze my 2 fingers together and wrap a towel around both and my palm.

The American healthcare system is a scam… i was working in Asia a couple years ago when i got sick.. thought it might be Covid or whatever, but it wound up being a run of the mill bacterial infection.. i went to a hospital in Thailand, to the ER- this hospital looked like a 5 star hotel.. unbeknownst to me at the time, many countries in Asia have top notch, world class hospitals that rival the best US hospitals, at a fraction of the cost.. I consulted with two doctors, had tests done (fortunately everything was ok) had three scripts prescribed and filled.. oh, and i was seen right away… i had travelers insurance but just paid out of pocket to streamline the process.. my total cost for all of that came to…. $83 US dollars .. not a typo .
Blame the insurance providers.

There is a reason why medical tourism is a thing in parts of Mexico, Turkey, Asia et al.. I’ll be damned if i go bankrupt or lose my life savings because i got sick .. I’ll repeat it louder for those in the back: The American healthcare system is a SCAM.
The quality of medical care is also reduced in Mexico, Asia and even countries in Scandinavia. They do not have the technology, they used outdated drugs from the 70s because socialized medicine is so expensive. Also, their medical staff is not required to have the same education we do in the US. Hope you like getting on a 6month wait list for a 5min head CT to rule out glioblastoma.

One time we were in an ER room for nearly 24 hours before a bed opened up.
Just a tip for you, there are always open beds. If you bitch loud enough they will take you back

The ER and this isn’t a surprise today, has become a doctor’s office for the uninsured.

Might be an open bed, but no staff to take care of them, so a technicality.
Try that at Parkland ER and get back to us. They have people waiting 36hrs for a bed with 200 in the waiting room.

There's plenty of staff in my experiences in BR

So you think they are going to let you die in the waiting room. Fake a damn heart attack. Anything to get you back there. I can promise you there are beds available

Guess reading comprehension isnt your strong suit… Re-read my post.. as i mentioned, many countries have world class, top notch health care at a fraction of the cost.. i cant speak to Mexico or Switzerland since ive never been treated there, but in re to where I went in Asia, the physicians were very professional, the antibiotics and tests were similar to anything ive had in the States.. now i cant speak to major surgeries and issues since (knock wood) i havent had any, but i suppose it’s possible you’d be better off in America for some things, though i wouldnt automatically assume that to be true .
But in all seriousness, please dont just take my word for it- research it yourself, and try not to just cherry pick the things that reinforce the narrative and agenda you are trying to push .

100% not true. I thought that and was sending Lourdes $300 a month on a bill and they came back and said if I didn't send the full amount immediately they were sending my arse to collections.

ER isn't a place for possible breaks unless it's a compound fracture. Go to an ortho the next day.

So in other words you received minor care that any Minute Clinic with a experienced nurse could diagnose, given some simple antibiotics, and now want to claim the entire American Medical system is nothing but scam and elsewhere is better.
Got it.

I was thinking the same thing, never been to an ER for broken bone
Posted on 3/19/24 at 9:37 am to Will Cover
Last time I was in an ER waiting to be seen, I was in there for 10 hours, 6 hours before being seen, and 3 hours in one of their small rooms before a doctor even came into check on me, then another hour to get moved to a regular room.
At my 6 hour mark of sitting in a chair unable to easily breathe I felt I was suffocating, so I quietly walked over to a corridor made of tile away from the ER and within 5 minutes, they spotted me laying there and got me up and took me to a ER room.
So, pro tip, find something that makes the hospital take action. I wasn't trying to do that, but it just worked out.
Was still the most miserable night of my life and why I try to stay healthy enough now to avoid ER's.

And they get triaged and sent right back out to the waiting room. Trust me, often they are in the waiting room before the unit can reset and go back in service.
