Say what you want about them now. But they were one of the greatest bands in the late 80’s to early 90,s
I lost interest around the Zooropa time but All That You Can’t Leave Behind in 2000 was an amazing album.
If you appreciate good music then you know U2 is a great band

I remember going and buying the album. Saw them in Houston that tour. One of best concerts I've seen.

Really doesn't hold up. Boring album. I would pick The Unforgettable Fire for their best work. They are such douche bags now. Can't stand them. One of the funniest moments in rock history is Apple forcing their new single on everyone and the firestorm of backlash a free single caused.

Not a studio album, but Live:Under A Blood Red Sky is U2's best album.

U2 has become quite the punching bag in recent years, for some reasons that I can understand. Despite any of that, the 1-2 punch of The Unforgettable Fire + The Joshua Tree will always be a favorite of mine.

Man, that album had a gigantic impact on me. It came out on my 16th birthday. Before that, I was all about pop music and the Top 40. That got me interested in classic rock, college radio.

I wouldn’t cross the street to see them now, they should have gone to the house long ago, but Unforgettable Fire and this album are stupendous. The opening three songs on this album IMO are on the short list for best set of kickoff tracks on any album, ever.

I'll agree it was a good year, but 1983 and 86 beat 87 for me.

I don't really like Bono much, but Joshua Tree is one of the great albums of all time.

I love Joshua Tree, but U2 seem to have become something they didn’t want. The Sphere concept in Las Vegas is gaudy AF, but I’d still go see it. The U2 of the 80s wouldn’t like that shite.
They got flashy in the 90s, then something changed. Music became rote and loud, tho the concerts were awesome. But now they don’t look happy doing their stuff.
From who are U2 taking their marching orders, now? Is Saint Bono being prodded to say some of the stupid shite he does about American politics?

As much as I really like some early US, I think this album is very weak.

Was my favorite band in the late 80s/early 90s. This may be the only album where I liked every single song on the first listen.
However, due to what they became, I didn’t even have a desire to go to the Joshua Tree anniversary tour a few years back.

There needs to be mention of these two names...
Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

i'm old enough to remember when apple sold an ipod or iphone pre-installed w/ U2s new album and got roasted immediately by people asking how much they had to pay to get the device WITHOUT that on it.
never a fan of U2. i liked New Year's Day a bit but couldn't handle being force fed their music cosntantly.

U2 became boring when the IRA quit blowing things up.
