I would not compare the experience of Chadwell with that of Leach. I understand they just throw money at coaches willie nillie but this crap needs to get in line one day.
now isn't the time to go cheap though

Until changes are made across the landscape then paying market value for a coach is the way to go, otherwise pay for Arnett and receive Arnett results.

so your solution to not being poor is saving 3million on your coaching hire to have a losing season?

WTF??

like it or not, this is big business...big business pays its CEOs lots of money, get over it.

if State passes on Chadwell due to money...well you are fricking retarded and deserve to not have a winning season for the next 2 decades.

chadwell is a stud and will be hard to defend as he runs a unique offense that takes time to prepare for and is really hard to due on a weeks notice.

This. We have to spend 6-7million to get a guy. It's going to be hard to top a Leach type hire and what he brought but we need make some type of splash. Otherwise we end up with a dud in a puddle.

Exactly. People are acting like Chadwell would not come to Starkville because it's mid to lower tier football school in the SEC. If he has 3 good years at State he'll be able to pick his blueblood school. It's called a springboard people.

He can springboard from Liberty. If he wants Mississippi State, then fine. But if he aims higher, he can get there from Liberty.

Mississippi State seems like such a dead end job for a guy like him. He is a good coach but its almost impossible to win at MSU.

On the other hand, if he does even relatively well there, it could be a spring board to a REALLY good job.

The question will be, is Chadwell willing to bet on HIMSELF? Or any coach for that matter that takes the Miss. State job.

These guys generally think very highly of themselves so they usually will.

I would be more calculated here and try and put myself into a better position.

He’d be a good choice. State has to do things differently to be successful and his offense fits the criteria.

totally agree with this^^^. State needs to find an a guy who runs a successful offense that suits their recruiting ability and other teams don't see that often. Chadwell would be a good fit at a program like State. seems like a great cultural fit too.

No asshat. He has done well in high school level conferences. What proves he will be successful at this level? Comparing him to Leach's body of work is infantile. I suspect we will pay someone in the $5-7 range but not sure if this is the guy that deserves it. Got it?

It’s easy to be calculated when you’re not faced when a $6-7mil contract and ability to coach in SEC. Mullen made it to Florida and could’ve picked any top tier job from about 2013-17.

It is also easy to wait one season too long and lose 6-7 games in a shitty conference and become irrelevant to big jobs.

Odom would be a great hire for them.

My spellcheck at first defaulted to “Odín.” He’d be a great hire too.

Fair, I didn't think MSU would be paying that much.

But he is a good coach. If he gets them from the sewer to 8ish wins in 3 years, he needs to immediately go for "better" jobs and get one of those huge paydays.

Leach and Mullen both managed to be good there. Chadwell seems like a guy who could have the same level of success and be make State a tough team to prepare for.

yeah state is a developmental program. not sure if he'd be good at a blue chip destination, but he could thrive at a program like state.

Would be a great hire. I heard he has a kid who plays LB and hits like a hammer.

Word is making the rounds at TexAgs that MSU hired Chadwell. If so, that is a good hire

Football Scoop.

They are literally batting .000 on anything but rumors for MSU. Unless it’s obvious news.

I’d love for Chadwell to introduced as the new HC… but I’m worried we haven’t even called if Football Scoop is putting it out there.
