NYT openly states that CDC is overstating recent COVID deaths

Saw this floating around Twitter and haven't seen it here yet.
With as much as they know about COVID now, they're still overstating deaths by as much as 33%. How badly were they overstating it during 2020?

I’ll be called a radical nut job but I don’t think anybody died from a thing called “Covid”. They recategorized flu deaths as “Covid” deaths. They made up numbers for money. The rapid tests were total bullshite but they used them to put a death down as “Covid” even if they clearly died of another cause - cancer, heart disease, diabetes, even fricking accidental deaths. There is a video of a state of Illinois medical spokesperson literally stating this out loud in a press conference in 2020. I believe this happened hundreds of thousands of times nationwide in every state.

I’m not sure how I can be wrong when I’m linking the video where they admit it outright. Maybe there was a Covid virus. I’ll give you that as a stipulation just for argument’s sake. But it was survivable by 99% of people who got it. The numbers were highly inflated by hundreds of thousands for money and to whip the world and Americans into a frenzy of fear and to affect an election. You’ll never convince me otherwise.

So all those people who filled up the ICUs in 2020 with severe swelling of the lungs and trachea just had the flu?
Look, we obviously over reacted to the virus, and I think the death totals were overstated. But COVID-19 is a real, identifiable coronavirus (even if you believe it was created in a lab). People really did get infected with the COVID-19 virus, and some of them had such severe respiratory inflammation that they couldn't breathe, and died.
There really were people who died from COVID, and not just with COVID

I was in the hospital twice in 2020 - in March and August at the height of the “pandemic” (non-Covid related illness). UAB, the largest hospital in Alabama. The ER was a ghost town and my floor was half full. But my TV told me bodies were being stacked in refrigerated trucks and sick people were lining the halls for lack of rooms. I saw the opposite with my own eyes.

I claimed that in March 2020, got roasted on here. That 0.4% death rate is almost all old/frail people. And, even that's inflated.

Same here but at Princeton hospital. I asked if I could go home to free the bed based on the news I was watching. Doc acted like I didn’t say anything about it and went back to talking about me. Later I asked again and he sighed, dropped his head and said “we have no idea where those videos came from. We’re at less than half capacity in the entire hospital”. He clearly didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

This is not false.
I had hospital privileges at 5 locations and none of them were “full” at any point in the pandemic.
They were understaffed because people were freaking out. There were lots of female nurses who husbands and parents pushed them to “get out” of the hospital to protect themselves and they did.
The newspaper published statistics like “the beds are 97% full which was true BUT there were empty units that they had closed to deal with staff shortages.
Hospitals were never full.
