I recently re-watched Star Wars episodes 4, 5 and 6…

Someone is suggesting we watch episode one, two, and three… But I'm not sure I want to waste my time… I remember enjoying episode three… But not one and two… Is watching one and two necessary?

It isn’t necessary but while I recognize how bad they are, I don’t quite hate them as much as I used to.

Friend,
They should have only made the ones from the 70s and 80s. The last batch made in the last decade was okay, but the ones in the early 2000s were terrible and unwatchable. If those are the ones to which you are referring, why would anyone, except the most degenerate Star Wars nerd, watch them?

P.S. Several people and posters have asked to be able to access my 2020 post about the history and top 10 snoballs in New Orleans. Apparently, and surely by accident, and not out of spite, one of the moderators deleted the entire thread. It was linked in this thread: LINK /

No, it's definitely not necessary. In fact, watch 3 and then Rogue one.
You can also skip 7, 8, 9. 7 isn't bad, but 8 and 9 are a complete mess.

There's no reason to watch any Star Wars films outside of the original trilogy.

Watch the last light-saber fight in Ep 1 & skip 2

Episodes 1 and 2 are bad movies, but they add a ton of world building and lore. 3 is the Con-Air of Star Wars movies. It’s ridiculous and over the top, it shouldn’t work, but it’s crazy entertaining. 3 is by-far the most re-watchable Star Wars movie.
Also, Andor and Rogue One are both fantastic additions to bridge the gap between 3 and 4.
Finally, Clone Wars is as awesome bridge between 2 and 3 with huge amounts of new world building and character development that greatly improves episode 3.

I just wish they would have gone the Darth Jar Jar route.

Machete order (45236) is the way to go

1 is necessary for the Maul fight
2 is necessary cause you probably don't remember it much at all

I watched Star Wars for the first time a couple of months back. Have watched all 9 and Solo since.
Episode 1 is the biggest steaming pile of shite ever. Absolutely terrible. #3 is the best of that trilogy.

Yardbird, you're old enough to just call them Star Wars, Empire and Return and not this episode whatever.

The beginning of Episode 2 (and the rest of the movie for the most part) are hilariously bad. I tried to watch it recently and was horrified that it actually got made.
Episode 1 isn't much better.

The Han Solo movie - so underrated. Cool story. Very well produced, acted, and hilarious at the right times. The intro to Chewy is classic. Outside of Lando's love thing for that droid - it's top-notch Star Wars stuff.

For those of us sinners that lost our faith, I'm assuming you mean you re-watched the first three movies that came out. I've never learned the Episode numbers to know that stuff. This is a little like Judaism and Christianity, and I'm still a non-accepting Jew.

I've never watched any beyond the original three.

A chicken thread with TulaneLSU?
What are the odds?
Watch the clone wars instead.

Eps 1 & 2 aren’t great overall, but they have some nuggets in them that really contribute to the overall story.
For instance, in Episode 2 there is a scene where Palpatine meets with most of the Jedi Council as the Republic is on the brink of war with the Separatists. Palpatine asks Yoda if he thinks things will really come to war. Yoda says that the dark side clouds everything and the future is impossible to see. While it might not seem like that big of a deal, what the scene really shows is that Palpatine/Sidious is probing to see what the Jedi know or might be able to see. Yoda’s answer tells him that the Jedi’s force connection has diminished. Mace Windu verifies this when he says to the Council in their Chamber that the Council should inform the Senate that their ability to use the force has diminished. So this is one scene that really illustrates the game Palpatine/Sidious is playing and how he is always several step ahead of them. A good nugget in the movie.
