some of you always need a boogey man coming for you.

This is aimed at Air BnBs, bars, and event centers that consistently have drama because they rent out to packs of criminals and know exactly what is happening but do nothing.

"Helena Moreno was born in the seaside city of Veracruz, Mexico, the daughter of oil executive Felix Moreno and academic Nancy Pearson Moreno. With her parents she moved to Houston, Texas, where she was a 1995 graduate of Episcopal High School. Moreno is a 1999 graduate in mass communication from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas, where she wrote for the Daily Campus; she also studied at American University in the District of Columbia while working in the White House for First Lady Hillary Clinton. A native speaker of both English and Spanish, Moreno studied for six months in Madrid, Spain."

This is why it makes perfect sense to hire "outsiders" to clean up dumpster fires like New Orleans. Despite the fact that she resides in NOLA, she brings in a pragmatic approach to the shite-show. I sense that her early upbringing heavily influences her decisions today.

It's interesting because every time i call 911 about crime or criminals around my business NOPD doesn't show up. 6 calls
this year and not one police officer has so much as driven by or even called me back. Furthermore I have tried to hire details from any and all law enforcement agencies in Orleans Parish and been told no as well.

What did you do to piss them all off?

Time to shut down the saints and pelicans. A lot of crime happens during those games.

So many people here claim to care about crime, or at least be disturbed by it, but when Muh Democrat City actually tries something it gets criticized.

I think we need to acknowledge the tradeoffs here. You cannot be anti-crime and then get pissy when the cops talk about shutting down your 24-hour coin operated laundry / Kratom shop / fried chicken gas station.

But 1 guy might attempt to weaponize this by paying homeless people to go fight in the parking lots of rival businesses!!!!

Agree. However they are gonna have to prove the owners/operators actually know the people they are renting to or could foresee a problem.
They aren't going to discriminate because of race or preconceived notions because that would essentially mean they are shut down anyway once the media gets a hold of it.
Also these community "leaders" aren't the ones facing retaliation from said troublemakers if they "snitch", the owner/operators are.
Basically this ordinance will only be used maliciously against businesses as ransom demand and is for show. That way they can say they "did something".

You can be when they don't show up for an assault, robbery, or car theft.

No, that still doesn't make any sense. The police are a backstop. The first line of defense, when it comes to littering, loitering, vagrancy, squatting, and all the other low-grade shite that grows into serious crime, is all of us- particularly those of us who own property and businesses. The NOPD are not the security guards for anyone's den of low-grade vice.

Business has a bit of a crime problem.

Business calls cops. Cops don’t show up.

Crime problem grows.

Business calls cops. Cops don’t show up.

Crime problem escalates.

Business calls cops. Cops don’t show up.

Crime problem explodes.

Cops show up, shutter the business.

Criminals loot shuttered business.

Vagrants squat in looted, shuttered business. Employees lose jobs. City loses business, employees and customers tax revenues.

I’ll finish the rest in episode 2.
