NOPD to shut down crime causing businesses

Most cities have a method of suspending permits for businesses that are a constant nuisance.

Weird that New Orleans thinks that this is newsworthy....unless they've never done this before.

This is aimed at Air BnBs, bars, and event centers that consistently have drama because they rent out to packs of criminals and know exactly what is happening but do nothing.

Per company policy, Airbnb owners are not allowed to pre-screen renters. I'd imagine these bars and event centers run into the same problems.

Guessing minority bars where cops get called out constantly for shootings and stanbbings.

Point of order: are we talking about bars of the minority white population?

It is already working! The murder rate is down. This time last year NOLA was at 28 murders. As of yesterday, the city is at 26 murders.

Shut down businesses because of Covid, now shut down businesses because of crime.

I swear shite hole New Orleans sure does hate their normal, decent, hard working tax paying citizens.

So they are going to shut down all of the minority-owned businesses?

FYI, the Whites are the minority in NO.

You silly guy, in New Orleans the white bars are the minority owned bars.

So many people here claim to care about crime, or at least be disturbed by it, but when Muh Democrat City actually tries something it gets criticized.

I think we need to acknowledge the tradeoffs here. You cannot be anti-crime and then get pissy when the cops talk about shutting down your 24-hour coin operated laundry / Kratom shop / fried chicken gas station.

Because it isn't the businesses that are propagating the crimes

It is the criminals

Jazz Daiquiri isn't shooting people, the people who frequent the establishment are

This is nothing more than yet another "pretending to do something to fix the problem but actually not addressing the real problem"

The real problem is young black men being festered in a culture of violence, drug activity, gang activity, fatherless homes, welfare, no job, no education.

Until the black community turns inward to address these concerns all "Muh Democrat Cities" will continue on this trajectory of violence.
