He can now say that now that he as $200 million in the bank from big donors like Ken Griffin who probably thought there was a good chance DeSantis would run in 2024. (Remember the state of Florida has no campaign contribution limits...federal election do. He will carry those donations under state law to run for president in 2028 via superpacs.)

There's always some new bright star coming along. I remember when Mitch Daniels was pushed and then forgotten in a short time span.

Very definitive.

DeSantis is every bit as smart as we on this Board suspect. This Nation will be on fire in '24, why would any aspiring rational individual/politico want that in their lap? The Fascist Dems are NOT going to go quietly, they will gas light their street minions just like they did last time. DeSantis will let Trump handle the bloodletting and then step in clean. Well, "clean" but for those who manifest the feelings in the above post.

Not if he solidifies his reputation and credibility with 4 more years of strong leadership in Florida as governor.
It should sharpen his political accumen in preparation for 2028.

what part of "if Trump doesn't run" don't you get?

74 million voted for the guy and a substantial number still love him.

No way to win a primary (much less a general) pissing off 50+ million whi will see you as preventing the remedying of a wrong in 2020.

It's only the death of his national profile if he doesn't do anything to fight against wokeness in the future.

Lot of woke shite in Florida... so he'll have a lot of low hanging fruit to choose from until a 2028 presidential run.

I keep telling you that Trump and Desantis are allies who will be running on the same ticket. I don’t understand why no one believes me.
