Lottery officials told Bay Area News Group on Tuesday morning that at least one ticket won the massive jackpot, though it was still unknown where the winning ticket or tickets were sold.

Did someone win or not?

California Lottery Twitter says they have a winner

California Lottery makes its FIRST EVER Billionaire! One lucky ticket sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena matched all 6 numbers in the November 7 #Powerball draw. The final jackpot amount for this draw came to $2.04 BILLION dollars.

Yep and will likely piss it away or be robbed blind by family or friends. There should be a caveat to winning like if your net worth is less than a million when you win you must sit through 6 months of economic training prior to disbursements of more than 5K biweekly.

I see this email header in my inbox, I'm going to let it sit for a while...

Congratulations! You won a Georgia Lottery prize

I'll be optimistic it's for maybe several million, but realistic I probably won $2.

What's even the point of playing if everywhere but NY, IL and NY do not have a chance to win

Not really.

Out of the top 10 largest lottery jackpots:

Row Labels Count of Winners
CA 3
FL 1
IA 1
IL 1
MA 1
MD 1
MI 1
NY 1
SC 1
TN 1
WI 1

Out of the top 20 largest lottery jackpots, 30% of the winners came from CA, NY, IL. But those 3 states also contain about 25% of the US population.

I would guess they set up a LLC as an American Corp and claim it through that. As most people do to remain anonymous

They'd be celebrated as brave heroes by the media for breaking the law. Also they wouldn't be taxed because they wouldn't have a social security number.
