If Tiger is forced to retire, did his star fade too fast or was the trajectory about right

Golfer have a longer lifespan than most athletes. Did he fade too quickly?

Aside from that late Masters, it's not like he was just still peeling out wins. I think it's just right. Maybe this accident gets him an even longer career than if it hadn't have happened. There's a big underdog vibe he's got going. He should have milked it even longer.

Well yah - if he had the dedication and willpower of Tom Brady he'd still be #1 and would have twice as many majors as he does.

Who is forcing tiger to retire?

Great golfer. Just didn't have the talent or drive of Nicklaus, really. But still, he had a phenomenal career.

“Just didn’t have the talent or drive”
Tiger was a prodigy as a child. His talent is at the highest level. He has loads of it.
Tiger was known for his drive. He trained liked a fiend and for long spurts practiced like one too.
Jack in my opinion had more structure and apparently avoided pills and ladies of the night. I guess in that way he did have more drive. Or focus.

Injuries can derail any priming career. Brandon Roy. Greg Odeon
What sucks is that this injuries( especially the accident) seem to be self inflicted)
I think he can recover. He just needs another two years off.
Do Senior Tour wins count as major wins?

White women ruin everything

My, albeit limited, understanding is his career was always going to be injury filled due to knee torque while driving.

Tiger couldn’t mentally handle his father passing away. That’s when all his problems with pills, women, etc started. He was lost without his taskmaster.

Tiger was better at both of those things than Jack. The only reason he didn’t keep winning is because of his personal life getting the best of him. But on the golf course, there’s never been anyone better.

Tiger is the greatest golfer ever, period. Jack didn't have the personal problems that Tiger did. That affected the final score.

I would love to see an event where todays golfers had to play with the equipment from the 70's. Driver heads 1/3 the size of today and a penny size sweet spot.

It's a shame to be limited to only one downvote
Even before the car crash it's a miracle Tiger could still walk

He was wealthy enough to hire someone to drive him places. No excuses.

Tiger would still dominate

This is just so dumb...Jack has the MOST majors championships of all time...AND...Jack finished runner up in majors 19 times...19 times!!!! Think about that for just a second...19!! Jack is the best and its not a discussion. He played against legends of the game during his time. Who did Tiger play against in his first 10-15 years on tour? Phil? Who else was truly name worthy? Jack > Tiger. The lack of perspective on here is astounding some times. In 30 years, who is going to be doing the honorary first tee at The Masters with Tiger....NOBODY!! That's because Tiger's competition at the beginning of his career was very average. Nobody will be even be close to being worthy enough to stand up there with him...not like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player!!

Tell me you’re not a golf fan without telling me you’re not a golf fan

Injuries stopped tiger, not personal life stuff. That’s just media and message board shite

Golfers with that much power sure put a lot of strain on the ir back and spine. Those power swings from the rough over the years we saw on TV, etc... pure torque and muscle.
His lifestyle choices aside... his power was not really built for longevity. He had a great career but the body can only handle so much.
