If journalists refused to leave a parking lot at the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District headquarters, officers threatened to charge them with criminal trespassing.

According to a video shared by CNN correspondent Shimon Prokupecz, four officers standing on the sidewalk near the building in Uvalde, Texas, told reporters to leave the premises and warned that Uvalde Police Department officers were on their way to charge them if they stayed.

"Well, just going to let you know, Uvalde PD's en route. Once they get here, they'll start issuing criminal trespasses for the property," an officer said. "Because they themselves asked y'all to leave."

Another officer told reporters that Uvalde police asked the officers on the scene to issue an initial warning.

According to Prokupecz, the school district had petitioned the police to tell reporters to leave the area.

A school spokesperson addressed the media prior to the encounter with law enforcement officials, promising that the school would issue a statement.

He said the official refused to answer his questions about why the door was not locked during the massacre.

"UCISD has and will continue to work with law enforcement who are investigating the event and realize that many questions remain," the statement read. "Because the investigation is ongoing and information is evolving, we are going to reserve comment until all state and federal agencies have completed their review."

Go ahead. Do it and see how that works out for y’all.

Just imagine how bad you have to be for me to take the media’s side over yours.

Just to make sure I'm clear, there is a Uvalde PD and then there is a seperate PD for the Uvalde school district, correct? Seems like that's what I've heard in recent days.

Good luck with that one. I'd park my happy arse on the very public sidewalk and dare them to get rid of me.

If those journalists would carry rifles, then they could count on that police force cowering in fear for at least an hour before attempting to arrest them.

I would get a better source than something from CNN, Fox or any other cable news network that are obviously one sided.

It's not the city police that botched this whole clusterf.....k ..it was the school board district security guards that refused to go in. The police were inside waiting for the command to proceed. The media has not been correct about all of facts. The resource officer was not even on campus like he should have been.

I don't know how this works in Texas, I know their school system is a little bit different than ours (they have districts where as here its all by parish right? In other words, the county itself doesn't make up the district, it can go into another country?)

And their school board members don't get paid to serve so people are on the board because they want to and isn't just looking for cheaper insurance and an extra $2000 a month to attend one meeting a month and answer some phone calls from pissed off parents.

Anyway, because it is different, is it legal for the police to tell them to leave a school district? Its still funded with public money so I assume they can tell them until they are blue in the face, but they don't have to leave and if the police does try to force them, their will be some law suits filed pretty quick.
