yep, that shellacking was one of the first that came to my mind. Da U was still clinging on to life as an elite program but they still haven't recovered from that loss.

They have won their division 1 time (and then got demolished by Clemson)

They are 2-10 in Bowl games since then including getting shutout by powerhouse La Tech

Marcell Dareus' hit on Colt McCoy has sent Texas into decade plus long tailspin

This possibly could be a win that broke a program.

2006 Rose Bowl for USC. They have been recovering ever since.

USC won the next three Rose Bowls after that loss, finishing #4, #2, and #2.

The loss to Texas didn't break them. NCAA sanctions did.

The game against Stanford where Toby Gerhart had a million yards and Harbaugh ran it up was the end

Not a game, but the 2004 ALCS broke the Yankees.

They won the World Series 5 years later. Not bad for a broken team…

Couldn’t you argue that the 2006 game against Ohio State is the one that really broke them? They got thrashed by SC in the Rose Bowl following that game, then “the horror” happened to start the 2007 season.

Yea 2006 OSU broke Michigan

Specifically the (legit) but heartbreaking late hit penalty on Shawn crable against Troy smith late in game

I wonder...if Clemson is broken from the 2019/2020 playoffs. They gave up 500+ yards 3 games in a row in the playoffs and probably should be 0-2 (instead of 1-2). LSU beat them down in the NCG and OSU beat them down the next year in the semis. I would give a bit more credit to LSU, but I do think OSU beat the crap out of them in 2019 and outside of some weird bounces would have ended them there

Too soon to tell, but that could have been the end.

i truly thought 21-0 for lsu and one of uga's losses to bama (the natty, most likely) would do it, but both of those programs have won national titles since then, so they don't qualify IMO.

a loss to bama this year in the natty might have truly ended uga.

28-3 is it, for me.

Nah if you win another Championship in the next 5-10 years that’s hardly broken.
Also I don’t consider losing to the best team and coach in College football as broken.
