I want to say the lowest I can remember was either 79 or 89 cents a gallon in spring 1997. I was dating a girl from west Mobile, and I could get $30 out of the ATM in Auburn and have enough cash to get gas for down there and back as well as get food on the road both ways.

When I first started driving in 1975, gas was about 39 cents per gallon. I do remember it being in the low 30s when I was younger.

In 1975, $10 filled up my parents giant Plymouth Fury III. I think the tank held 24 gallons. That car was a tank! I got gas for them all the time. $9-11 per tank. So cheap!

Gas is going to be more expensive than bottled water again. I remember my dad losing his mind paying for water. I hope that he can survive $5 and up gas.

To answer the question. .59 a gallon

$.19 per gallon. 1967 or so at a gas station on Veterans Hwy near David Drive / Power Blvd across from a drive-in movie in Metairie. But I could also get live crawfish for around $.20 to .25 cents per pound.

I remember when I moved here that the price per US Gallon was close to what I had been paying per liter in Europe.

FWIW for according to dollartimes while it was "cheap" it works out to $3.38 in today's dollars. Guess maybe I shouldn't complain too much yet.

25 cents in the early 70s before the Arab Oil Embargo. We thought 50 cent gas at the Esso near Westdale Jr. High was ridiculously high

Cheapest I have seen at driving age was $.59 a gallon but that was a promotion at a new station. $.80-$1.00 when I first started driving in the 90's.

I remember friends giving me $1 or $2 a week to pitch in for gas when I drove them around... and I made a profit of it...

I wasn’t old enough to drive but a friends big brother would take us fishing. He’d drive half way across Memphis to area they would have had wars. 14 cents a gallon is the lowest I remember there, about 1962 maybe?
Moved to Louisiana and, in 1968, got a fill up in a Volkswagen for under $2.00, 17 cents a gallon, Red Bird (I believe) on MacArthur drive in Alexandria. We didn’t fill up very often, usually pooled our little bit of spare cash to get a few gallons, and go for days in that old beetle!!
