Afraid the 911, as we know it, is on borrowed time. Along with a lot of combustion engine autos.

Porsche CEO - “In 2030, we want to deliver around 80 percent of our vehicles with an electric drive – either as a hybrid or fully electric.” That’s only 8 years away!

While I am in awe of the Porsche electric technology and its performance, a 911 without that exhaust lighting up when you nail it, will never be the same.

The 911 Hybrid that won LeMans is a beast for those not familiar:
V-4 2L plus the electrics, 888 HP, 0-60-2.2 sec, 0-100-3.4 & 0-200-9.8.

They’ll lose a lot of their appeal when they’re just a technology company.

Tesla seems to have shown electric cars can be fast as hell. What is it exactly about a gas powered engine makes it so much more appealing than an electric?

Faster pit stops. Oh, and that it's not electric.

I get that electric vehicles can produce astonishing performance, but I don't know if they don't start seeming a bit generic and too similar across lines. Will future generations enjoy cars and trucks with the same enthusiasm? Maybe they can recreate the era of coach building, when styling reigned.

The irony here being that Germans will have to build a 3rd or 4th pipeline to import the massive amounts of Russian natural gas they'll need to power those cars.

The 20% of ICE cars remaining will be collectors items.

The 911 will be the last to go fully EV.

That being said I would trade my current one for a road going version of this:

Is that Kph or Mph?

ETA found the times, confirmed mph. That’s insane for a road car.

I think the best tag line for the 911 was the phrase coined by Car (a UK rag): If you can you must.

Your personal car history must not include something with a lot of horsepower and throaty exhaust, like a 65-early 70s muscle car. There's something about that deep growl sound and the feeling of harnessed power that just doesn't feel like anything else, it makes driving a joy and a hobby in itself.

Even some of these newer cars like the Challenger Hellcats have a supercharger scream, engine rumble, and low pitched exhaust growl that just sounds and feels awesome. It's hard to explain if you've never been behind the wheel of one or are some sort of puss that isn't into cars.

This argument is made every time there’s a major shift in vehicle technology. Gear heads always find a way.

BTW, it's pronounced poor-sha. Not porsh.
