Porsche is already an "SUV" company, by the numbers. They can electrify everything but the 911 and surpass their goals.

996 Turbos were so cheap a few years ago when no one wanted them. People gotta stop loving Porsche so the prices go down.

One of my close friends bought a 993 10 years ago for ~$30k. He sold it for a good amount when he bought his GT3 like 5 years back. The price of his old 993 now is about 100k. It’s all insane.

They wouldn’t be able to hear your flow masters anyway because they’ll be too far ahead.

I am not against EV's or going to debate the obvious performance they bring to the table. A lot of us just love the sound of American muscle

Link? I have a 911 4S. I’ve driven the battery powered Porsche - it’s damn impressive. There is even a button for the exhaust to sound sporty.

Electric cars just cater to a different clientele. They are the same buyers who wear smart watches instead of mechanicals, and those whom never learned, or care for that matter, to drive a manual transmission. It's nothing right or wrong, just a different preference.

I for one hope the interest in ICE automobiles plummet, more for me at a lower cost.

Who in their right mind is ever going to trust an Italian electric car? I can’t get an Italian coffee pot to last over a year.

“The 911 is our icon, and we will continue to build it with combustion engines, that is very clear," stressed company boss Oliver Blume. Staying true to tradition means keeping the flat-six alive. He added that, even if Porsche wanted to turn the 911 into an electric car, it would face significant packaging hurdles after removing the engine.“

Cost, and the fact that it doesn't have to plugged into the wall for hours before you can drive it 100 miles.

On the road whatever lead they have will be lost sitting at a charging station while the gas burner flys by.

Tesla seems to have shown electric cars can be fast as hell. What is it exactly about a gas powered engine makes it so much more appealing than an electric?

I.e. the 991 Hybrid mentioned in the original post

I think it is likely the mid engine Cayman S is a better driving car, but you will have to give up the 911's expansive rear seat

You're incorrect.

I had both and just sold my 911 for a very good profit. The Cayman is not even close to handling like a 911.

I’ve owned both. The cayman S mid engine car is very capable and is a great value unfortunately it’s just not a 911.
But both are fine autos. If money is a concern id go with a cayman S but once you drive the 911 you’ll want one. 911 4S 2014.

Nah, they build SUVs and EVs to support their 911 habit. She's here to stay.
