Have you ever won a championship in a sport?

My son’s basketball team won the championship for their age group over the weekend. I was trying to explain to him how special it is to have that experience and to really cherish it. I never won a championship. Closest I got was the semifinals when I played football in high school.

I love these threads. It gives me a chance to say I won a state championship in the 4x800m relay in high school and haven't done anything of note since
ETA: I take that back, I won a Halloween race at the UREC one year. Nike, you have my number.

Yes, 12-year-old BPA state champs in Alabama way back when. We beat the shite out of the Huntsville Rockets.

Yeah. A few as a player. Not as a coach yet. My son's baseball team was stacked but we were cut short during covid. Coaching is 10x more fun. As a player, you don't really understand even a rec ball championship is special.

That’s awesome! I’m always impressed by track victories because it’s pretty much all on you to make it happen. Unless you were the fat kid slowing down the relay.
On the other hand, my son has the championship trophy, but they didn’t get it because of him.

Yes. In high school I was on the back to back state champs for 5a swimming in Louisiana for Chapelle. Was awesome. Got a ring and a necklace with little a solid gold Louisiana with it engraved saying state champs.
And yes I swam for the school in those meets. I made state qualifying times.

As an athlete my high school football team made a state title game. (Was a bench warmer but still)
As a cross country/track coach we’ve won a couple conference titles collegiately and won a league title my first year as a hs head cross country coach this year. Nothing major but still something I guess
