Matt House has done a pretty damn good job this year if you ask me. Seems like itll only be a matter of time until he moves on to being an NFL DC or maybe small school HC. He's one of those guys you hope to keep around for as long as possible but you know he's gonna move up the ladder at some point.

I think we keep him for another year. But if not, you have to tip your hat and thank him for what he’s done this year.

This is probably his next job, but not next season(I think/hope).

I think you shoot for 3-4 years of Matt House as DC. He will still have room for raises and LSU pays as good as anyone in football (both pros and college).

At the end of the day its a good thing if LSU coordinators are getting poached for bigger jobs. Thats why the LSU job is so alluring.

He also has school aged children, and BK apparently gives his coaches latitude for a decent work/life balance. I'm not sure he would have that in the NFL.

I think if we held him for 2-3 years that is a success.

Football minds like him are rare, and he is in demand. We will get him more money this offseason, but someone will offer him a HC job or DC in NFL and if he took it, you can’t blame him.

pretty much... and Kelly knew that when he hired him, but i actually trust Kelly's ability to hire coordinators, unlike O, who struck out way more often than he hit on coordinators

Hoping he stays but Kelly always finds great DC's.

Its been stated that he came back to CFB to become a CFB HC. I don't think he liked the NFL. Opposite of Joe Brady.

NFL jobs have way more time off than college coaches. No recruiting, a true off season, etc.. hell, some go on vacation during the bye week in the middle of the season.

Kelly has had a nice run of d coord -
Elko Duke
Lea Vandy
Freeman Notre Dame
All are now head coaches

Just depends on what House wants to do - I think he probably needs a little more time to get some head coaching looks

If he wanted back in NFL I think he would have stayed with Chiefs and could have got promoted from there

I think it was more of a lifestyle thing coming back to college but not wanting to uproot your kids - that happens all the time

Depends where hes offered. Baton Rouge offers a poor quality of life that money alone can't fix.

Heater was saying this morning that House does have HC aspirations. It’s just a matter of how long until that chance happens.

House will stay to add a National Championship to his resume and then will take a HC job. I bet he has 3 years in this job and that should be enough time for the Natty to occur.

I think House stays one more year, then we hire Freeman after he gets canned by Notre Dame.

Agree it seems no one wanted to work for O. Kelly seems to be respected in the coaching ranks much like saban so hiring good replacements should not be a problem.

Money fixes EVERYTHING when it comes to quality of life. That guy lives in CCL or U Club, his kids go to U High, Catholic, St. Joe’s, Episcopal, he’s got a condo in Gulf Shores, he’s driving a nice car
