He played at Bama, got his MBA there, coached there before going to Clemson. It seems like it is in the stars. Clemson is on the down slope in the NIL world. If Bama is willing, he would be crazy not to be.

Dabo hates the portal and NIL. It is a bad idea to hire someone in the current state of college football with those beliefs.

Nobody wants DeBoer to go to Bama except for the majority of Bama fans.

I think it will be Dabo. He will have resources at Bama that he doesn’t at Clemson (NIL $$$). He will come around on the portal and be a solid coach for them.

This Washington guy becoming the Alabama coach would be wild to me. I am a huge college football fan and I literally didn’t know who DeBoer was until I tuned in to hate watch Bo Nix in that championship game.

Does the head coach really have to do anything with NIL? Obviously, the portal stuff is an issue.

IF Dabo had immediately adapted to the current times, there is no doubt in my mind he would be the coach.

but he openly despises Portal and NIL (almost all of these guys hate it behind closed doors), and refused to be a part of early on, and made several comments that pissed players off.

Its left him far behind other programs.

You basically can't make that hire now if you're Bama

Also, its crazy weird how much Bama fans hate him with the fire of 1000 suns.

He's one of their own who has been wildly successful at a (lesser) P5 school.

But they HATE him

Pay for play has been going on for decades. This is now just legal. Coaches have been making deals for decades. This is no different.

He won’t utilize NIL and the portal. I understand why he dislikes them, but they’re here and you have to use them to keep up. He hasn’t been doing that at Clemson, so why would he change at Alabama?

Without a strong NIL program, it is tough to work the portal.

The portal is a boon for the top schools. It allows them to poach top players who are unhappy at their current school and helps them open roster spots by allowing players they recruited that never panned out to transfer out.

Dabo and his staff will have no problem using the portal. It was tougher at Clemson because they didn't spend enough to get the top transfers.

Dabo is a egotistical control freak. He isn't leaving Clempson, where he can do as he pleases, to go to Alabama.

But they HATE him

They hate him because he whipped their arse in the national championship game twice.

They act like it’s because they hate his Jesus act. Give me a break. Alabama is the biggest redneck Baptist Bible Belt state in the entire country. Need to look in the mirror and realize your entire state is one giant Dabo.

When LSU hired Saban, I distinctly remember a huge portion of our fanbase saying "Who?!?".

Clemson without Brent Venables at DC seems to be a lot different as well
