How long is it suppose to take?!?

I expect another few weeks at the least.

They can afford to take as long as they want.

bury your head in the sand, Malzahn can only get so much hotter as a coaching hire.

They were ready to hire Saban months ago but don't have any backup plans, what gives??? I thought their money was unlimited.

Spotlight. They need it. Their TV ratings were shittastic this year.

So long? Mack stepped down on Friday. It's only been a week, honestly. And the fact there's been no news or leaks from Texas since Mack stepped down is a good thing, not a bad one. It shows they are actually being professional.

And since the recruiting dead period doesn't end until January 15th, you can hire a coach after the bowls and still have a week or two before they have to hit the trail. Also, what viable candidate is going to ditch his team right before the bowl game? I'd be shocked if we hear of announcement before the title game.

They are waiting until after their new coach's bowl game to announce his hiring.

Waiting on Bama to get their shite pushed in by OU, which will cause Bama fans to melt all over again. Then and only then can Saban go running to UT with his tail between his legs.

Obviously.

I sense a little bit of sarcasm...

This won't happen.

They thought they could get anyone they wanted. It must be sinking in that their wish list was preposterous.

Perhaps my wording was a bit strong, but Bama could very easily mail it in. Wouldn't be unheard of with a Saban team playing a Bowl game.

I'll grant you his bowl record at LSU would lead you to think "mailing it in" would be possible. He was 2-3 in bowls at LSU, but Saban's Bama teams are like 5-1 in bowl games. They mailed it in once. Not exactly a bad track record at Bama.

Exactly! Good point.

My problem is with all these incessant Saban rumors. My eyes have glazed over with the whole subject at this point. Of course we'd love to keep Saban here at Bama BUT if he goes, he goes. All this non-sense and forumgasming over Saban is old. It's not like Alabama will shrivel up and cease to be a top notch program. My word, friggin Mike Dubose, Mike Shula, and Bill Curry won double digit games in seasons here. Alabama is going to be just fine without Saban and furthermore, as good of a coach as Saban is...had he not been at a premier program such as LSU or Alabama he probably would have struggled to win a National Title. These programs helped make Saban elite and he was a good fit at each one. So if he does go to UT, best wishes. I hope for the best for him. We'll move on and get another high end coach and life will continue...

The big 12 was the second best conference before 4 AAU schools left. Now it's easily the 5th best conference and it isn't even close.

I wouldn't go that far, but I doubt he leaves after one season.

Kind of sounds like they are waiting on Jimbo.

I have some FSU buddies who are pretty connected. They are a bit worried.

I know you desperately want this to be the case, but it is not even close to being true.
