We just won a national championship which I never thought would happen under Orgeron. I'm happy to say I was absolutely fricking incorrect. It seems like some people on this board are just setting up to say Orgeron isn't the right guy if he doesn't have another season like this next year. I'm just enjoying the fact that we just went undefeated and finished it off with a NC. I'll worry about whether Orgeron can sustain it or not when we see that he can't. Until that point, I'm just going to trust that the man knows what he's doing and enjoy the ride.

That’s a lot of melting to say you don’t trust O

It's not a melt. And the bottom line is regardless of what me, you, any of us on here think, Orgeron is going to get to make his own hires to replace the departed coaches. Hell, I'm not even saying he's going to make bad hires.

I'm just simply posing a question to those who appear to reason that ANY coaching decision Orgeron makes this cycle will be infallible based upon how remarkably great this season was despite the fact the argument could be made he's had more "misses" than "hits" in his tenure thus far at LSU.

Just a topic for reasonable discussion

So I guess your wall of text means O will be on the hot seat next year? That's what you'd like isn't it?

I knew the coaching scramble would bring you whiners back out.

Hiring coaches is hard, whether it’s nick Saban or the coach, in this instance, that you’re trying to project your confirmation bias on.

Over hauling a college staff is even harder when you factor in the variable that is recruiting.

So am I little nervous? yea. Cause it’s not easy to do in the first place. Doesn’t really have to do with not having faith in Coach O.

No one is saying that. They are merely saying that it's his decision to make, and he's earned that right. He has failed and will fail again.

Saban has made more shitty hires than I can count. His first DC at LSU was fired before the season even started. Kirby just ran off his OC after one season in a very similar Canada situation.

It happens. The key is how you respond. Orgeron realized quickly the Canada hire was a mistake and rectified it quickly.

Thanks for the “arguably, absolute, best, greatest, tremendous, understandably, unequivocally, complete and absolute, mightily” spit up adjectives word salad question that could have been expressed in one or two concisely written sentences.

Answer: Yes

He built the staff that beat bama, won a n.c., and are receiving promotion opportunities today. He did not build a shitty staff/program.

Raymond was offered more at atm, Mickey was offered more at Nebraska, Munoz, Brady, meatball.

Melt all you want. The part of a great coach is surrounding himself with talented people. If that means keep the talented one’s from the old staff and add additional, that is what you do.

You’re the one melting. OP isn’t necessarily wrong when you consider a couple past hires O has made. Hopefully he’s learned from it , as he has clearly learned from past experiences, and can keep building on this success.

A little sensitive, huh? NOWHERE did I say, or even imply, O should be "on the hotseat" next year.

Perhaps a more simplistic way of putting it would be is there a middle ground between saying O has earned the benefit of the doubt with any coaching hires because of this season and an unquestioned trust that O will hire great replacements simply because O is the one hiring them?

Hey I’m in here saying he earned the benefit of the doubt

And I also Think he’ll do whatever needs to be done to make the team good.

If his next pick doesn’t work out he’ll make moves and find something that works

Orgeron may not have earned the benefit of the doubt when he first took the job but he sure as hell deserves it today. Even if he doesn’t nail the hires he needs to make right now, it’s okay! He’s proven that corrections will be made if needed...spectacularly so. So don’t panic! Would you accept another season like 2018 this year if it meant another season like 2019 the next?

if you are panicking because you’re afraid we won’t duplicate 2019 in 2020, you probably need to be a little more realistic.

I've come to the realization that, well thought out opinion pieces such as this one tend to get pissed all over on TIGERDROPPINGS.

Us fans need to let them worry about this shite. We won the title not even 2 weeks ago. Its still celebration time, not time to freak out about next year.

I was wondering when someone was going to start this thread because I've had the same thoughts People are acting like all of O's hires have been hits And hell, maybe he has learned from the failed hires, but everyone saying to trust O seems to be built on recency bias

No they haven't, but he knows what he wants and that's a spread/RPO offense and an aggressive/attacking defense that increases DL pressure.

Between O and Woodward they should be able to find capable, qualified candidates that fit this system. I trust them as a team to get the right people.

That's a thoughtful, well-reasoned post but you had to know you were going to get downvoted to hell for it.
