re: John Cohen: Auburn will announce the new Head Coach after the Iron Bowl. 24hrs

More stable. We have better administrators. Better city/community. Twice the endowment and better school.
This part is accurate. However, there is an 800lbs gorilla right down the road that makes Auburn not a better job. It’s the reason AU has had a brief history of success in football. You are always second in the state much less the conference.
Is it a great town, clean, great community, financially secure? Absolutely. I’d send my kids there in a heart beat.
However, if I’m a coach, I’m going where there is fruitful recruiting grounds and less competition for that talent. The pay will be equal. It should make me more successful if I do my job well. I would have longer tenure and more opportunities.
At AU, you have to beat bama consistently or you are fired. There was some success under dye and tubs, however, It’s been a revolving door since Saban got there and it doesn’t look like it’s changing any time soon.

LSU isn’t going to file any answer with any sort of dirt. They screwed up with the process. Their best bet is to get a number that will make Kelly go away asap.
Did James Craig or les miles win their lawsuits? Kelly has to try the case in Louisiana. Won’t see trial for two years and likely won’t have a favorable judge or jury.

doesn’t matter what Kelly’s attorney believes or doesn’t believe. He’s bound to represent his client and get him the most advantageous deal he can.
He sees 18 mil. If you hire him on a flat fee for 7,500. See how bound he is for the best deal on behalf of his client. Probably wont even answer the phone.

You have to remember, this is one sided information. When lsu files their answer, there will be another story.
You all are doing exactly what Kelly’s attorney wants, create outrage in public opinion to get the most for his client.
I think we saw this recently where one attorney posted a video of a car. Outrage pursued, then a second video emerged and just about everyone STFU.

After watching last night. This is a bigger rebuild than initially thought.

It’s imperative we get a coach as soon as possible. The coach is going to need time to evaluate the current roster, evaluate and recruit the h.s. Guys and evaluate the transfer portal/recruit the portal.
The coach is only going to get two to three years to turn things around before he is fired or extended.
Therefore, you can’t miss this years recruiting cycle.

This team doesn’t do one thing well on offense. Everyone must go.

This team looks like they never played organized football on offense.
Wr’s are top 3 in drops. People will say green is a freak. A freak that can’t catch.
We are bottom two or three in rushing the ball. Our running backs are small, not strong, and always get caught from behind.
We can’t protect the passer. Qbs getting sacked left and right.
We are one of the lowest scoring teams.
False starts, holding, illegal shifts. It’s all a joke.
I see no one of value on offense. Need a total rebuild.

So most of his career he has been in administrations where the A.D. had to resign or be fired. However, he has the secret sauce?

I asked a question about the philosophy. I didn’t say he would succeed or not succeed. I’m just stating a fact that he was part of the athletic administration you were not happy with. I don’t understand, if you want a “Change”, why you go with someone that was part of the administration you were not happy with.
It’s like saying, I’m not happy with Brian Kelly, so I’m going to make one of his assistants the H.C. That will make us more successful.
But hey, what do I know. I’m sure most successful leaders have come from unsuccessful leadership.
If you were not happy the way Woodward ran the athletic program,

Why promote one of his assistants?
You think the assistant, who’s been mentored by Woodward, Alleva, etc will produce a better result? It’s the same philosophy and process as the previous leader.

So you hire one of the assistants to Woodward? One of the people responsible for not running a top notch sec program?

Had his qb, Mensah, not gone to Duke, he’s likely undefeated right now. At worst, one loss.
Why is this relative? I think it shows his ability to evaluate/recruit talent. I think this is a key quality a coach needs in this nil and portal era.
He very well could be a coach, 4 years from now, you say, we could have got that guy and didn’t. Boy did we screw up.
Hugh freeze was proven, Kelly was proven, Franklin proven, etc you have the same shot at success. Not every coach from a small school is Billy Napier. Some are Jim tressell or Cignetti. Kirby smart is not Mike Archer. You can go on and on.

If the next guy doesn’t work out, do we fire Verge, Carmouche, and Landry?

If you set aside the 75 million jimbo buyout then the $30 million would be the number 3 buyout of all time Kelly then becomes number 1. Orgeron is number 8. I think it’s safe to say Woodward is responsible for 3 of the top 10 buyouts in history.
The season isn’t over. Norvell has a larger one. freeze very well could go, if Lincoln is fired, that’s another one.
You can hate on Woodward. That’s fair game. However, you start looking at other name coaches, the contracts aren’t much different. Kelly was ranked 8th as top paid coaches. What if one of the other 8 etc have to fire their coach?

Fair enough.
That’s a big difference. Compare that to Franklin and norvell.
Kelly was the 8th highest paid coach. If any of the other 8 have to be fired, I’m sure we are looking at similar money. You will find the contract is not as absurd as people are making it.

I don’t give a shite one way or the other about Woodward. I’m not advocating for Woodward.
I’m pointing out that those running around saying he is responsible for the two largest buy outs are DISHONEST.

No one is defending the hire. Just the mis information being spread.
